Good but not perfect

The service at Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu was top notch but unfortunately the room was a letdown. The toilet was leaking, the bathroom was somewhat smelly from the pipelines and the air-conditioning worked all too well meaning that our room was a freezing 22°C all the time and there was no way of getting it up other than turning off the whole air-conditioning. The pool area is nice but the smells from the market across the street can sometimes come all the way to the pool, and it's not a nice smell. The hotel is bang on in the center of the town, I don't think the location could get much better, even though the newest and best shopping mall is at the other end of the seaside "boulevard". All in all the experience was pleasant but you could expect more from Le Meridien.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

The Filipino night market and the Kota Kinabalu night market are just over the street on both sides of the hotel. Great street food with unbeatable prices!

Best in the City.

We booked into this hotel for a bit of luxury after climbing Kinabalu. It was, by far, the nicest hotel in the area. That said, I still think it was a bit overpriced considering the pool area is not particularly large and the hotel is quite small in comparison to other hotels we have stayed at in the past.. Our room was one of the large central rooms with bay window over looking the South China Sea. It was simply decorated, fresh looking, clean and very comfortable. The bathroom was large and well appointed with separate shower and bath. The hotel had a prime seafront location and overlooked the handicraft and weekend market. All that the City had to offer was within walking distance from Le Meridien, which was a bonus. The staff were genuinely hospitable. They were welcoming and helpful and a credit to their employers. I hope they got a Christmas Bonus! Lovley hotel, lovely relaxing stay in KK.

Great location right in the middle

Great location right in the middle of town, near to markets and shopping centres. Short taxi ride to the jetty for visits to the beautiful islands nearby. Front counter staff tried his best to accommodate our request for 2 non smoking rooms near to each other on same floor. Especially like the service staff at The Circle Restaurant who were very accommodating towards our family with 2 pre-teens and 1 toddler.

It is a nice hotel which is relatively new and strategically located in the town of KK. Next to the hotel are shopping malls, Centrepoint and Warisan Square, which makes it convenient to find food and do even simple shopping. The room is generally quite clean, and the two queen beds are ideal for small families like us with 2 adults and 2 kids. Room is spacious. Pool is not big but good to have for relaxation in between. Hotel staffs are mostly very friendly and polite, greeting us every time. When I complained about the uncomfortable beds, the counter staffs did offer to change a room for me (which will not help), and add some mattress pad for me, which eventually solved my problem. Great! The hotel buffet spread is very good, especially fruits. Overall, I would say this hotel is definitely good for the price I paid, except that the night market directly next to it gives people the impression that it was unsafe. I would stay in this hotel again if I go KK again.
