Istana Hotel Kuala Lumpur

I don't know why they are not responding to my request. They keep saying "wait!" but never "do" it.. or never properly explain. i don't even want to say more about that hotel. also breakfast at the hotel is way too expensive regarding its quality. never have breakfast there.

Location is fantastic, just next to the Pavillion shopping centre and also Bukit Bintang Walk. I checked into the hotel at 5pm and my room was not ready and I was asked to wait at the bar for 45 mins where I was only offered juice and non-alcoholic drinks to bide the time. When I eventually got my room key, I had been "upgraded" to the club floor, only I was not permitted to use any of the club facilities! The room itself was very spacious but was old and quite rundown with wallpaper peeling off the walls, tiles needing replacing etc.. Even the mini-bar was not functional. Several times my request for extra towels/room make-up were not followed through and in general the hotel felt like it was understaffed. However, the hotel was clean and the bed was very comfortable. This hotel describes itself as 5 star - which may have been the case 10-20 years ago, but now I would say it is only a 3-3.5 star due to it's need for maintennence.

We stayed at Istana during our honeymoon, the staff was incredibly friendly and the lobby was beautiful. After seeing the lobby, which really is breathtaking, I expected the rooms to be in mint condition. I found the rooms a bit run down, the bathroom had mold in the grout and the a built in wall hair dryer from the 60's, which was stained and very tired. The bed was incredibly hard. The location was great, there was a metro station in walking distance and most of the KL sites. The restaurant in the hotel was unbelievable! The room itself was unmemorable and nothing special.

Right next to Monorail. Down town. Easy to get everywhere.

on arrival it took ages to find our reservation referrence.Despite being a couple and our request they gave us a room with two seperate beds. Next day, our room was changed with a king bed but the key was not working, everytime we had to ask the manager to come and open the door for us. Poor breakfast, not many choice to select from. Shower was leaking water and during our stay, hotel staff just told us they are sorry, but didn't fix the problem

Stayed for a four-day business trip and was satisfied in overall. Location & staff are all okay. The breakfast was very good. The Room is spacious and clean but needs some repair and polishing, for example, an electric kettle and table. Adding a safe and iron to a room would be required. No wire-less internet access in the room was a big problem.

Classy - Local flavor

Even the hotel is rather old, but is ok. Location ok, near Bukit Bintang & near mrt station.

great breakfast - lots of variety. Give buffet dinner a miss - they can't manage to serve hot food.

Upon arrival a very old room was provided. Dirty floor, dirty shower and ....blood on the bedclothes. Disgusting. After complaining we were provided with another clean room, but only the next day.
