Fantastic location - club level a must!
I have stayed at other Intercontinental and comparable hotels and knew to book the club level which includes in-room internet (wired) service, separate check-in and concierge service, and club lounge access with free breakfast, business center, complimentary drinks any time in the lounge, afternoon tea with deserts and tea sandwiches, and happy hour. Great value for the money and worth the upgrade. Cons: *Walls are a little thin and could be noisy in the high season *One of the restaurants Harruba was being remodeled into Sopranos and was not available. We were not aware that would be the case *The asian restaurant, Asian Breeze was nice, but overpriced for the quality of food. Pros: *Location is fantastic! Short walk to bus stops, nightlife, beach and shopping center w/ bowling and cinema *Club level worth the price *Bathrooms were nice with separate shower stall and extra long tub *Rooms facing the garden at the upper floors also have great ocean views *Professional, courteous staff We traveled in the off season (last week of February) so the hotel was fairly empty.

A first-rate hotel experience
The service was excellent.Concierges were especially helpful. Rooms were spotlessly clean. A warning: food in Malta is quite expensive. Plan for food expense about 50% higher than stateside costs.

Money-saving tip:
Not Applicable
The hotel is located in St. Julian, some distance from the primary sightseeing venues. Don't use taxis, which are very expensive. Rather use the public bus system which works well, runs frequently and is quite inexpensive. We went to Valletta, the current capital, and to Medina, the original capital. Don't miss the Medina/Rabat area. It is beautiful, historic, clean and altogether charming.

InterContinental Malta, mostly good
The beds are a bit hard for an American (but soft compared to most of Malta). The worst part was the inability to provide internet reliably in any form. The Wifi was weak and unreadable for the most part, and the hard connect wasn't working despite hours of me waiting on a serviceman in my room, Never was an offer to move me to another room, though I did not ask. Otherwise it is a beautiful hotel, nice beds, great bathroom, and the staff was very friendly, if they were unable to fix the IT problem.
