The architecture and decor of Excellence Playa Mujeres are contemporary and luxurious, both inside and out. Each spacious room and suite is extravagantly furnished with the latest amenities, including an extra-wide L-shaped sofa, 42" flat-screen TV, wireless Internet and a radio with Ipod connectivity. The sumptuous all-marble bathrooms include a double shower for two and a separate water closet. Each suite has an expansive private terrace outfitted with comfortable lounge furniture and a private round Jacuzzi with indoor and outdoor access. With many of the 2-Story Rooftop Terrace Suites outfitted with Hydro Spa Pools will be heated in winter.

Mom trying to getaway
Mediocre Mexican All Inclusive
We should have known there was a problem when the driver asked why we would go to this resort instead of the one we mentioned visiting the prior year. For starters, we paid for an oceanfront Excellence Club room. We got an oceanview room that looked over the adjacent resort's playground (ie, screaming kids) and some unattractive scrub....and the ocean far off in the distance. It was also not really in the club building, meaning we didn't get the promised perks. After 2 days and much whining on our part, we finally were put in an oceanfront room with a gorgeous view. But the service in general was terrible - I can't tell you how many times we ordered a drink, asked to have the minibar restocked, etc only to be required to ask again....and again....and again....lunch literally took 90 minutes one day. The rooms are attractive but have a mildewy smell (especially the beds and pillows) and the bathroom is placed at the head of the bed. There are no walls between the bathroom and the sleeping area...meaning no privacy, whatsoever. You are literally going to the bathroom feet away from the bed....awful! The gym is decent but you can't listen to the TV (treadmills don't have individual TVs). However, there is a great studio for weights, stretching, etc. The spa was very nice and pleasant. The food was really pretty bad, even for an all-inclusive where your expectations are always low.

Exceeded expectations by a long shot
My wife and I decided to stay here to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. Since its All-Inclusive and Adult-Only we felt it would be a good getaway - and just under a 3hr flight from Chicago. It only took about a dat at the resort to realize this hotel was way better than what I expected. Two things really put it over the top: (1) the spa is unrivaled - better than any hotel I've ever seen, and (2) the staff's genuine friendliness, sincerity, and attentiveness is infectious. I found the hotel filled with workers who were experts at their craft, who really tried to create a "magical experience" in way that totally "out Disneys" Disney's phony magical experiences. On top of all that, the food was very good, the restaurant settings romantic, the pools gorgeous, and the beach relaxing. The rooms were immaculate as well. A perfect trip.

A place you must go, Worth your money and time
They welcome you from the bottom of their heart. We stayed at the King size bed with Private pool, and it was an absolute and perfect place for me and my wife. All staffs are curteous, very friendly, and very helpful, and eager to help you whatever you need. Word cannot say everything, if you have never been there, you must try this resort. I mean it. :)

Absolutely Amazing
1/12/2013. My wife and I just got back to the U.S. from a five-night stay at the Excellence in Playa Mujeres, This is a five-star resort in every way. The food is excellent and plenty of variety. Great food and drinks no matter where you are within the resort. The staff are very friendly, very helpful, and always greet their guests show a hospitable attitude. The entire resort is immaculate and well-cared for. We would go back to this resort in a heartbeat, can't wait.

beautiful resort! grounds r immaculate. buildings lovely. had to move rooms cause too loud . dont stay in walk outs start rolling supply carts at 5 am. chose to upgrade to roof top for 160/nite. shouldnt have but was desperate for good nights sleep. food excellent. snorkled on isla mujeres arranged thru hotel. saw some cool fish. rented wet suit worth 10 bucks for sure. water was not great huge piles of seaweed and not welcoming prob why not lots of hotels in that area of cancun cause main hotel area water is fabulous. the concierge victor was aweful. he was rude and in a perpetual bad mood not helpful at all(not personality for that job for sure). saw him rudely speak to 1/2 dozen people only one like that. all other staff was lovely and hard working. wont go back but must say hotel is lovely!

Always Great!
I have vacationed at this hotel several times and each time seems to better than the last. The staff is always friendly and very helpful so all you have to do is ask for something special and they will do whatever is necessary to make it happen. I would highly recommend this hotel and I will be returning to my favorite Cancun hotel this spring.
