awful vacation

I stayed at the Omni Fri 4/6/12 to Mon 4/9/12 Cons 1. There is no hotel shuttle available from airport to the Omni. You will need to rent a car or pay yellow transport $80 US dollars for a 15min ride. Avoid the Mayan Place timeshare people off to the right once you come through customs 2. The people at the front desk could barely speak English 3. There is always a hotel staff member in a blue shirt trying to get money out of you. They pretend to be helpful but its a trick. Avoid them the best you can. Do not go to the Welcome thing its a trick 4. The people in blue shirts at the hotel are very pushy and one of them almost made of miss an excursion pick up time. 5. Internet is not included you have to pay to use it or use one of the 4 computers provided for guest. The computer room is well hidden down some halls off the lobby 6. The food was just fair. I could have had better selection at Golden Coral. The food choices were limited and on more than one occassion food was spit out because it was just that awful. 7. It took us a day of being there to find where to get the towels to use by the pool. They are hidden by the guy who sells trips for jet skiing and other stuff. 8. The safe in my sisters room didn't work consistantly. Had to keep getting it fixed 9. Our room keys would randomly stop working. had to keep going downstairs to get a new one. 10. I didn't like the fact that the staff seemed to be spying on us. They seemed to know every where we'd been outside the hotel even though we didn't tell them where we were going. There was always someone in a blue shirt trying to question us. They tried to claim they were worried about our safety. 11. They kept sitting us a the table that had condensation dripping down from the air condition. Yes I know it's a hot humid place but how'd you like it if water dropped from the ceiling on your food or in your drink. 12. The service at the resturantes and bars was slow. There are a lot more cons I don't have time to type them all. Pros 1. The boys had fun at the kids club. 2. The view of the ocean was beautiful. I would not come back to this hotel ever again. I would pick a hotel closer to the shopping areas. I would also pick a hotel that had free wifi, a transported me to and from the airport. You must be able to say NO when you go to Cancun. Do not get sucked into any of the timeshare presentations.

Great service

Everything was exceptional. Could have been more shade at the pool areas. I don't think people should be allowed to put a towel on a chair and reserve it all day. Some people didn't come out till the afternoon.

Family Spring Break

I have nothing but excellent things to say about our trip. The staff, accomodations and food were flawless. My daughter and I used the fitness center most every morning of our stay - this is a very serious faciltiy that compares to university rec centers. Plus the spa is right next door so the area smells very inviting. Then we'd head to the dining room for breakfast, followed by the beach (with full-time sushi bar). Thank you Omni for making our trip the best! My girls are still thanking me for finding you : )

BEYOND OUR EXPECTATIONS!!

From the moment we checked in we were offered an ocean view upgrade which was a fantastic choice. The room was very clean and comfy, the staff were very friendly and professional and truly enjoy their job. All of our meal were exceptional especially the mexican cuisine at the Fiesta Mexicana. The buffet offered choices for all dietary needs, especially the breakfast buffet. We enjoyed the light and fresh lunch at the Pina Colada Restaurant on the beach with a spectacular view of the ocean. The beach is well manicured with white sand and no rocks or shells. The entertaiment was great as well. We can't wait to return.

Good times at the Omni

This is are 5th time staying at the Omni. We stayed in a villa and all inclusive. In short, the staff is fantastic. The room was cleaned everyday. The location is just far enough away, from the center of the motel zone, that it's not crazy busy. The beach is clean and not that crowded. To eat there are many choices, the DiVinci, the Pineapple Cove, Sushi bar,a self serve hamburger and taco stand (not sure of the name), a Italian place (not sure of that name either), and room service 24hr. The only issue we had was that the air conditioning in the villa was pretty noisy. We have had this issue before and it's a nuisance. We did walk down the beach and walked into many other hotels. I would say that this resort is above the average.(8.0-8.25)

Need To Buy All Inclusive

We had a great time at the hotel, but if you do not buy the all inclusive, it isn't worth it. The portions and drinks are relatively small, so unless you buy all inclusive to are hemmoraging money. The pool areas are incredible and the beach is fantastic.

Spring break, 2012

From the time we walked in to Omni, we were treated like royalty. The place is neat, staff is very polite and friendly. Looking back, I can't think of an unpleasant experience during my 4 days there. From the hotel you can make arrangements to go to other places. Try using the local bus, it's convenient and economical. In most hotels, you can hear people in the next room, walls are thin. But you will not have that problem here. From the airport to the hotel, taxi should cost 300 pesos or us $30.

Great property

We returned to the Omni after 15 years and were very impressed. The property was very clean, the food was great along with the service. Monica the concierge was fantastic and made a special call to me prior to my arrival welcoming us! We would definitley go back again. The beaches were amazing, we couldn't have been more pleased.

OK hotel, but not a typical Omni

We booked this hotel 6 months in advance with a discount that was impossible to refuse. But, upon arriving that late afternoon, we were welcomed with the fact that they had no room for us (due to a computer glitch (sure, it was) and would have to put us up in the local Westin for 2 of our 7 nights. First come, first serviced, people! Try to check in as early as possible. The Westin was very quite and we liked the layout, but the room was hideous. Rust everywhere and though we had an ocean front room (which I had to insist on), there are no balconies. We were not happy about having to unpack and pack within 2 days and were dreading going back to the Omni because as others have written, it is very chaotic in the lobby. The bar and the lobby should be seperated! On the 3rd day, we were given an oceanfront room on a high floor, facing the pool, which they all do unless you ask for a lagoon room. We loved the balcony and view of the ocean, but as others have said, the pool music (sometimes rap) is very loud. Why are they trying to cater to the college crowd when it's not spring break and it's not near where all the action is?! Nost of the guests were 30-50 with young kids. Others were correct about the food. It is just OK. Pina Colda's had a good lunch. DiVinci's is way overpriced for the quantity of food, although the quality was good. The breakfast buffet was tiresome. Dispite all of the above, I have to say that the service was impeccable. Housekeeping, &food service staff were some of the best we have experienced, but we have found that indicative of Mexico, overall. If you get a deal..go. Very nice white beach and the most colorful water I have ever seen in our world travels.

Not much to do if you aren't beach/pool people, but we loved the nearby small animal zoo (very hands on and informative) and the theme park, Xcaret was fanastic and as clean and well run as Disney World. Each are within an hour from bottom of hotel zone. Easy to get to.
