Nice vacation

We had a very nice time. The facilities were very nice, beach service was excellent, drinks were endless (did AI), beach was clean. Very relaxing (not a party spot) and very good service. The only inconveniences were the pool was too cold (for me, others didn't mind) and the lunch and dinner selections were limited for a weeks stay (we ate out twice). Oh yeah, stay away from the timeshare presentations if you can. We did it just to get free stuff (which they gave us), but it cost us 4 hours of sun and sand. It wasn't worth the time and aggravation.

Great experience - until check out!

Great experience. We had our daughters, ages 18 and 21 with us. Quick, easy check in (although the welcome drink we had in Playa during a previous experience was missed) and the bellhop walked us through all the amenities and showed us our room and the hotel layout from our balcony. The view was amazing. Beautiful beach area. Overall - staff was very friendly and eager to please. The hotel is very clean and there is always staff everywhere - working hard. They also had very visible security guards floating about and at night, really watched the beach area and checked the people coming in from the beach. Once a day there were at least 2 federal police that rode down the beach on 4-wheelers. (we only saw them once a day anyway). We did the all inclusive, which worked great for us. The only thing I thought was strange was the all inclusive did not include the mini-bar, but you could order room service to receive the same items. Just made more work for them. Buffet food is always buffet food - but honestly this was a step up from our previous all inclusive experience at the Wyndham Mya in Playa a few years ago. And they try very hard to make sure you are happy. Mon-Weds-Fri their theme buffets included a show - which was kind of cheesy - but the staff was working really hard and put a lot of energy into each performance, so it was hard to fault them for it. On these nights they had vendors selling souvenier items, which I have also seen people complain about, but I thought it was kind of fun to have them there- you didn't have to buy or even look if you weren't interested. The food at the Pina Colada on the beach was always good, and the staff so nice. The view there was incredible and we loved being seated in the sand area since we were hanging out on the beach in swimsuits anyway. We also joined the Rewards program before we went which gave us an additional perk of morning coffee delivered with a newspaper. There are several pools - so they never seemed over crowded, although the "hot tubs" or jacuzzi's were usually pretty full - and not at all hot. It was always easy to find chairs at the beach, and yes you have to check out your towels daily - but it wasn't a big deal. There were times when it took quite a while to get a drink at the beach bar since they seemed a little understaffed, and we actually saw the poor bartenders get harrassed for this by some pretty rude people.I've seen some complaints about the beds, which really weren't that bad, and I have a hard time sleeping in hotel beds. There aren't enough hooks or places to hang wet suits, and although the balconies have two padded benches, there didn't seem to be a comfortable place to just sit and read. The room safe was great to have - just don't forget to lock it when you leave! The maids come in twice a day (which was a nice touch) and if you don't lock it, or leave anything of value laying about, they have to report it to security and it's a process, although easy enough, to get the safe open again. The business center did only have 3 computers, which almost always had a line waiting to use them as they were usually occupied by people on facebook. As a side note - we did two excursions during our stay - one a Catamaran to Isla Mujeresand also an Altournative tour to Coba. I would recommend both. Although the trip to Coba was long, it was a great experience to climb the 120 steps to the top, and it was interesting to pass through all the villages along the way. We were constantly reminded of the poverty and told that this is where the staff working at the hotels actually live. Makes you appreciate how hard they work and want to tip them more! I also like that Altournative gives back.My big - and really only - complaint was when we checked out. Both our girls had gotten henna tattoos while we were there, offered by a vendor at the Omni, and one of the tattoos had left a stain on the bedspread. THEY CHARGED US FOR THE B...

Great vacation!

Spent a wonderful 5 days at the Omni. Friendly & attentive staff, great room with balcony. The pools were gorgeous and it never felt overly crowded. We were always able to get a chair at the beach or the pool. We did the all-inclusive, which was good for the most part. The dinners were all buffet style which after a couple of days got a bit old, but breakfast & lunches were fine. Overall I would highly recommend this resort.

Great option for college sb

We got the all inclusive deal for 7 nights and it was well worth it. We spent each day on the beach drinking at the bar and most nights going out to the clubs. The food was surprisingly outstanding and was a real highlight of the trip. Each of the pools/beach had a different scene and it was nice to be able to move around. The drinks were outstanding and definitely did the job for us. If you're considering going out at night try to get a party package but make sure to negotiate the price. We got our dropped by about 40%.

Do not do the booze cruise. Terrible deal. The drinks were incredibly watered down and the time on the boat was sickening.

Great stay

We choose this hotel based on other recommendations and we were not disappointed. Many have spoken about the friendly staff and this is by far their greatest asset. The food in all locations was good to very good with lots of variety. As others have noted, this is not the newest hotel in the area and some areas such as the main dining room room and lobby could use a face lift. However, the whole property is well maintained and clean. Our room was pleasant with a comfortable bed and views of both the lagoon and Caribbean Sea. Our only complaint was a mildew like odour which seemed to emanate from the air conditioning system. It was worst the first night and seemed to dissipate during our 8 day stay. We stayed during March Break week which meant that some college clientele were present. But all in all, they were well behaved and did not cause any issues for the other guests. Overall this property is well managed, secure and in our opinion provides excellent value based upon the service that it provides. We have no hesitation in recommending it.

Great Service

The staff at the hotel was the best. The were polite and served your needs rather quickly. The food could be improved, our favorite restaurant pina colda on the ocean closed at 5pm, the fancy italian restaurant which you needed a reservation for dinner moved to slow and tried to be to classy. Im on vacation I want good food , it can be fancy but lets keep it moving, the food was ok. For dinner our options each night was a buffet with a different theme each night, but lets face, its still a buffet, not that good. the other option for dinner was la paloma, very weak. So the service was the best , the food not so good, but its Cancun in March that I like.

The Price was right!

Great Staff, clean facility overall , never felt crowded and there was always room. the beach is great and so is the location... as for the food and drinks it was a great deal with the all inclusive package. the breakfast buffet was great , lunch was good and there was an outdoor sushi bar ...overall not bad, for dinner it got kinda old after 9 nights... if you are looking for a culinary expiriance , this is not the place for you, but for a good deal, great beach and overall 4 star expiriance this is a good choice... oh the price will attract some "jersey shore" people and such...haha

Fair at best

I travel atleast 3 times a year, mostly trying new places. The hotel was ok. The rooms were nice and clean, but the bathrooms less than I have come to expect from omni. The bar staff was TERRIBLE. The concierge/hospitality staff was subpar. The only good service was the wait staff in the main restaurant and they were honestly great. The food was good enough but below the star rating for the hotel. We went all-inclusive, had I been asked to pay I would have never eaten at the restaurants.
