Paradise? Far from it!

The Omni Hotel was a disappointment to my family. We counldn't stand the harrassment received by the hotel staff from the moment we walked into the hotel with them attempting to sell their vacation time share. The group was stationed between the elevator and door so you had to try and get by them every day. The out of control prices of internet, food and bottled water were a disgrace. The t.v. barely worked and I woke scratching every day.

Omni Cancun Nightmare Stay

[...] The hotel was sold as an all inclusive, which when we got to the front desk, they told us it was not. So, we ended up paying cash for our meals and drinks. The staff really did nothing to accomodate us, and told us for 190.00 for both of us each day, they could upgrade us to all inclusive. We didnt. And it is a good thing, for even with the all inclusive package, there fine dining restauraunt (called Davinci, has a small print stating all inclusive guests pay $30 each or 40 EURO per person. So...its really a sham, the food in the main cafeteria, is lousy American food and no authentic Mexican Food at all. Other than the steep hill climb up and down to get to the front door, cheap liquor drinks at 7.50 each, slamming doors every 5 minutes from drunk college students and budget lunch meat for buffet - the place is not bad. The only thing worse than the accomodations, was a mangerial staff that was clueless, useless and not accomodating at all.

Entertainment tip: Long walk from hotel

Hotel, has no tram to get you up and down there steep climb. So if you are dressed up in heels, or get winded easily, forget this place. Not Handicap accessible or high heel friendly at all.

Mold Allergy Sufferers beware!

Spent my entire vacation sick from the air quality from the AC and the dampness in the rooms. I travel frequently and no hotel as ever affected me this badly. I am hypersensitive so it may not affect other travelers to the same extent. Two others traveling in our group did have similar complaints but did not get as sick. The towels and bed linens were damp from the high humidity in the rooms.

"Do not go in the hot tub". I had feces.

These people charge for everything, if you want to use the gim you have to pay 10 dollars a day. I went to use the hot tub and I step in feces, I could not believe it, it is still in my memory, after that I could not use the facilities, because obviously these people are not very careful. I was so disgusted that my husband and me went directly to the shower and put alcohol everywhere. The manager only called and said that he was sorry and sent to the room a cheap bottle of wine. They charged me 3 dollars a minute for a local phone call ( total was like 35 dolars). No way I recommend this place. The last day the maid forgot to put the bag of coffee and I called to request it and the guy on the phone wanted to charge me for the little bag .When we check in they gave a room with two beds and we requested one bed, the guy at the counter said that he was going to give us the next day another room and he did not do anything,we slept in two separate beds all nine days. Terrible experience. They call me everyday trying to sell me time shares."HORRIBLE" VERY BAD!!!!!!

Beautiful building/ bad odor

On our arrival the Bell person was rude. We liked the appearance of the Omni but noticed the water damaged? odor right away. This strong smell is through out the halls, elevator AND room. It doesn't go away. Spectacular view from the balcony, great pool/beach area. Our room was almost classy,if it didn't stink. We inquired at the gift shop as to the best place to purchase bottled water(knowing we would go thru a lot) The young lady was nasty and lied saying the gift shop price was the same as the mart across the street. On two other occasions the bell help was pushy rude. When we ordered from the restaurant the food came different then the menu description.(not so good either) Our waiter seemed confused and couldn't help with basic restaurant service. We chose to dine elsewhere for the remainder of our trip. After a few days of the smell we rented a different room at another hotel. The money we thought we saved with [...] went into that.

Bad experience

Everything was bad, the staff was not helpful and often rude. The food was pretty bad and the rooms weren't clean. We were not impressed with this hotel and ended up going to a different hotel down the strip where it was a lot nicer.

Horrible Hotel - Cockroach in My Room

Booked a king size room. When we arrived we were told [...]had made a mistake and only a 2 double bed room was available. After complaining to manager that we were going to call Omni corporate, the hotel found a king room for us.Water pressure in shower was poor. Could here doors slamming in the hall. Hotel looked run down since our last stay 5 years ago. I recieved an electric shock from an machine in the fitness center. We were constantly harrassed by the employees in the lobby wanting us to attend a vacation club meeting. My wife screamed when a COCKROACH ran by her feet in our bathroom. I killed it and brought it down to the front desk. They sent someone to spray the room. The room smelled so bad afterwards that it gave my wife a migraine. The hotel refused to move us to another room claiming they were 100% full. We had to leave the door to our room open and open the sliding balcony door for 3 hours to air out the smell of the bug spray. We had to sleep with the sliding door open all night to get fresh air.The hotel sent us a fruit basket for our trouble but refused to refund us for the room. [...]offered us $50 for our troubles.I would never stay here again.

Horrible Hotel with Horrible managment

1. Wirelss interest advertised is free, IT IS NOT and this is a big lie. It is $15 per night. it is false advertising.2. Soap in the bathroom is disgusting and smell horrible.3. Specialty resturant which offer special environment not casual one called Davici is NEVER available, and no matter how long you stay in the Hotel ,you can used specialty resturant ONLY ONE TIME if you lucky.4. Food quality is poor and is not comparable with 4 star hotel like GR SOLARIES. i was there two years ago.5. No transportation provided for this hotel and from Air port to hotel they charge $60, however room service was great. 5. room was convinient and bed was comfortable. with the money i spent i rather to go other hotels next year. i do not recommend Omni hotel to anyone. Staff at the front desk are just laghting with repecting any promisses that hotel made to their gusts. When we arrived the lady at the front desk said "Sorry, internet in not free and you must pay $15 a night" my wife said "so, why you advertise it on your website "free wireless"??!! and they said while laghting may be it was misunderestanding. that is terrible.

Not Very Accommodating

When my husband and I checked in, all was good up until we saw our room. The person at the front desk did not make any effort to accommodate us and was very rude to my husband until my husband had to raise his voice, which resulted in another hotel employee to help us. The second hotel employee was able to accommodate us. The next day, our room was changed to the lower floor which was fine but our door lock was faulty. This problem resulted in us having to go to the front desk daily to ask for new keys. When they finally fixed the problem we were ok. Our last night, we decided to dine at the DaVinci restaurant at the poolside on the hotel premises. When we arrived, they would not allow us to dine there since my husband was not wearing pants. He was dressed nicely in dressy bermuda shorts with a button-down dress shirt and was denied entry. What kind of hotel at poolside, in Cancun no less, do something this stupid??? I could understand if the hotel was a 5 star and the restaurant was inside the hotel or even on it's own outside of the premises but c'mon!!!! Very ridiculous!! We will NEVER stay at this hotel again nor will we refer anyone there. Big disappointment!! On top of all this, the hotel did not offer room service. Also, their beach was louzy. The beach was rocky and was almost impossible to swim. We had to walk a few hotels down just to use the beach.
