Omni Cancun Hotel review

The rooms are very clean. The employees are the most helpful and friendly. One restaurant does a different theme every night. For e.g. Cajun, Spanish, etc. All the food I ate was great. Make sure to do the "all inclusive". The pools and beach areas are fabulous. The ocean on this portion of the strip is pretty rough, only downside.

Amazing experience

I had such an amazing time at the Omni. Everyone at the hotel was so friendly and accommodating. The proximity to the beach was ridiculous – it is right out your door. And the food was fantastic – especially all of the soups. I highly, highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone and I can't wait to return.

Wonderful stuff and amazing service

Stayed here while on a scuba diving trip to Cancun. The hotel staff was outstanding. They were friendly, helpful, and always accommodating. The rooms themselves were very luxurious and housekeeping did a nice job each day. It is in a good and quiet location away from the more crowded North end of the hotel zone. Room service was also delicious and reasonably priced. I'd highly recommend staying here.

Omni Hotel

Food was great, but make sure to do all inclusive.[...]The fitness center wasn't much, it was OK, but they charge $10.00 to use it. No where is that listed.I really complained about it but that did no good.I've never been anywhere else that charges.Otherwise, I absolutely loved the place. At night it was very quiet, no noise from other guests.

Excellent Hotel, Food & Beach!

So I have been to the Cancun Omni Hotel before but did not go last year after I saw slabs of rocks on the shoreline back in 2008. Since I am a beach person, I have to have an ocean to swim and body surf in. After reading reviews prior to booking my all-inclusive vacation, I read the beach was repaired by pulling sand back onto land and also covering the rocks. What a dramatic difference between then and now. The beach was great and the water was excellent. The first 7 days were tranquill and the last 3 days were wildly choppy I think due to a storm far away from the island. In any event, the water was clean, the waves were great when it was a bit rough and the ocean with shades of blue. The hotel has not changed since my past visits. The food is great, the food is clean and I have never gotten sick by food or water. I would like to see some variation in the menu though especially with meat dishes. The rib eye at La Paloma should be replaced with a different meat such as the skirt steak offered during lunch. There was tons of seafood, chicken, etc... Breakfast, lunch, dinner, water, drinks - whatever you need they have. Certainly make a reservation at Da Vinci and ask for [...] as your waiter. The food is top notch and he is an excellent waiter. Another thing - no pain making a reservation. Also, ask for [...] on the beach as your waiter to get you drinks and food if you don't want to move. He is attentive and a good guy as well. Theme nights for dinner were good and some nights there were shows put outside on the hotel grounds. The hotel is not certainly a booming place with parties, rowdy crowds or nightlife but if you want to relax or just talk to other people this is the place. My only problem - I don't know if I noticed this before or I am just getting a tad older and sensitive, it sounded like people were slamming their hotel door when closing it. Either they did not realize the sound it made or that it only takes a simple push to close/lock the door. I think the hotel needs to put up a sign indicating not to shut it hard or put some sort of device to quietly close the door.Other than that, I would recommend the Omni for sure. Oh, please tip with even $1 for your meals - these folks really go out of their way to serve you and make you feel at home. Supposedly I heard their take home pay is minimal so every dollar of appreciation helps these people out.

Great beach!

I liked the pool/fitness area and the beach was great. The only draw back was that the all inclusive restaurant service was very slow and I would wait sometimes 10-15 minutes before someone would come and take my order.

Great place for the price

Excellent hotel and location, excellent beach and grounds, food was a little high($23.00 buffet per person per meal). I think the all inclusive with meals would have been good for about 2-3 days of our week stay. We did a lot of day trips out with another hotel chain which was great. Omni guest services always wanted to know where we were going and what we where doing(none of their business), and even said not to tour with anyone else. Everyday they stopped us for wondering why we didn't take their 90 min "invitation" to their sales pitch on membership, which didn't offer much on value. The airport offer with another hotel chain was by far a better deal.

Mold Allergy Sufferers beware!

Spent my entire vacation sick from the air quality from the AC and the dampness in the rooms. I travel frequently and no hotel as ever affected me this badly. I am hypersensitive so it may not affect other travelers to the same extent. Two others traveling in our group did have similar complaints but did not get as sick. The towels and bed linens were damp from the high humidity in the rooms.
