Located on López Mateos Avenue, in a business and residential area overlooking the Sierra Madre mountains, across the street from Plaza del Sol shopping mall with over 250 retail and department stores, restaurants and cafes. 30 minutes from the airport; 5 minutes from Expo Guadalajara Convention Center and 20 minutes from downtown. Also is near Guadalajaras thriving high tech and industrial community known as Silicon Valley in Mexico. Geographic coordinates: 20° 39´ 38´´ North, 103° 21´39´´ West.
423 guestrooms with perfect combination of technology, sophistication, modernity, style and efficiency including 47 suites, some have balconies,105 Club level rooms, 271 superior and deluxe rooms. High Speed Internet in all rooms and all public areas. Rooms may be smoking or non smoking; 5 for handicapped; with one king or two double beds. Awesom Stay @ Intercontinental
My friend and I stayed 4 nights at the Intercontinental hotel and it was great. The room was an upgraded room, very spacious and the bathroom was huge. Even had a place for ladies to put on make up. There were 4 different light setups in room and bathroom. Lights for one person or the other to read, lights for atmosphere...etc...etc..

Great hotel, awesome service
Very nice hotel with a very well trained staff that really pay attention to detail. Security to the max and you can rest assure that you items in your room are completely safe. Believe me when I say they passed the test! Food was great and they have an awesome spa!

Better value shopper
The expensive experience
I arrived at 11 am, which it was too early because check in is at 3 pm. They offered me a different(less expensive) room than what I already paid for but of course there was not going to be a refund for the difference. I declined the offered and told them that I prefered to be back at 3pm. I came back at 3pm and the room was not ready. I had to wait for 1 and 1/2 hours(4:30 pm) for my room to be ready. I paid 150 dollars(not pesos, DOLLARS) for one night. For 150 dollars, I was expecting really big nice room, instead it was a room big enough for one person ( I do not know if I was tricked and was given the wrong room for the price, but I was expecting a nicer, bigger room for the price in Mexico). I said all this because I stayed in El Tapatio hotel and paid 70 dollars a night, the room is three times bigger, about the same quality of room, you are surrounded by trees and swimming pool, away from traffic and quiet. The only problem is that it is away from the main shopping centers. At the Intercontinental, you are surrounded by cars, cars, and more cars. My advice, check for other hotels and the money you save, spend it on shopping.

Lovely hotel
The hotel was as good as can be expected and a bit more. The hotel personnel did their best to make us comfortable and pleased. Nice people willing to do their job. The room was clean and was cleaned every day. Nothing appeared to have been messed with among our personal belongings, so I deem them trustworthy as well, which you can't say about all places. I would give 5 stars for the hotel, but the only problem was that the mini bar in the room was quite pricy. If the prices were halved, it would be still expensive, but bearable to use. I would choose it again if I were to go to Guadalajara again.

The Plaza del Sol across the street is a large place at which to shop. There are a variety of clothing stores from all ranges and a few good restaurants as well. Like a mall, but the halls are outside.

All good, only problem i had was that the sharing doors are very thin and its a single door. You can see the light from the other room and hear the conversation clearly, which was very annoying.

Best hotel in town!
The hotel staff was always friendly and accommodating, the price was a bit high but it was well worth it. I've been to many hotels in Guadalajara and this is by far one of the best.
