Barcelo Huatulco - All Inclusive

We did an ATV tour and a 7 bay trip, as well as a trip to the ruins. Cab fares are very reasonable, 30 pesos to get you from the Barcelo to town a few miles away. Snorkeling was ok however the clarity of the water is not nearly as good as the Caribbean and temperature is colder. The resort is very clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Our guide for the ruins was very informative. [...].The staff was world class. It's a great location, beautiful beach. Our trip was during the first week of December and this is a very quiet time of the year. We heard from a number of the tour guides that the last couple weeks in December are very busy.

I love beach resorts and am fortunate to have visited many in the Caribbean, Gulf Coast, and Mexico. This is the best and I am eager to return and include my kids and grandkids. The lush scenery and grounds are beautiful plus staff, food, services and all amenities are terrific. There are plenty of wonderful things to see and do in the area, and the nearby town is charming with friendly folks and fun shopping. Do not miss a boat tour of all the lovely bays and beaches with stops for swimming and snorkeling. Anyone, any age can expect a great time here!

Most relaxing week. Staff superb. Food was so good. Fresh fish everyday. Something for everyone. I'd stay away from the Plantion Tour. Kind of pricey for what for what you get. Don't see much of a plantation. Very long bumpy ride on primative roads up a mountain. If you do go be sure to wear a bathing suit. There is a waterfall and river you can swim in. Make sure you tour the bays by boat. Cost us $100 for four all day. This is the place to go for a veg out vacation. Quiet area & SAFE

It was overall friendly. More family oriented. The staff made everyone feel at home, and its activities were great. Open Bar PLUS!

We arrived to find out the water was not working at that time (but would be soon). Our room air wasn't turned up and when it was it was cool at best, no ceiling fans in rooms to help with air. 2 Days maid service cleaned our rooms and took our towels and forgot to replace them which we didn't notice until we needed them. The Pool seemed to have a lot of "stuff" floating around in the water and don't wear white in the pool it will turn yellow likely from the chemicals. Upon check in we didn't receive our comp. drink or our safe key or directions to where our room was located (but our parents did later). The Buffet is small compared to all the other resorts we stayed at and the variety doesn't really change so by day 4 we were pretty sick of the food. On a good note, the people were pretty friendly and the view was beautiful. There was a nice breeze most of the time so the sun didn't seem so hot. If you are anything other than Mexican, I wouldn't recommend going there between June-August since we were one of only a handful of Americans there, and, if you like to be around a lot of kids then this is the resort for you. I wouldn't recommend it for people that like to be around just adults. All in all it wasn't bad but I won't be back it was to boring!

We enjoyed this trip, compared to our trip last year to Cancun. We are a middle aged couple, finally able to get away and we relaxed and had a peaceful vacation. Not the typical tourist trap or singles scene. This was more of a cultural experience, as the towns reflected the normal daily life of the residents. We felt very comfortable and the only difficulty outside the hotel area was language, as we do not speak Spanish. Great places in the area for water activities, Jet Ski rental, deep sea fishing, snorkeling and swimming. We understand why the cruise ships make one of the towns, Santa Cruz a stop. We went deep sea fishing with local named Tico his boat was the Marsella out of Santa Cruz. He spoke good English and he was very accommodating and helpful for beginners or pros. Very clean boat and provided all necessities. We even wanted to go out with him again, but he was booked and we were not surprised. We went during their off season, May was very hot and humid, but with the main activities being water sports it was great. Could not believe how warm the Pacific Ocean is there compared to San Diego!! We are seriously considering a return trip during their normal season (winter) as the mountain areas were brown and dry. Even though still amazing views, it must be gorgeous when green. Definitely a great place for a family and very kid friendly. The staff did a great job keeping all entertained and the food had a selection for every taste. There were many families there and it was not an issue, like some places where the children become an annoyance. No need to rent a car, the taxis are very reasonable and there is always one around. We could go from the hotel to town for $3.00 USD, almost as cheap as bus fare at home. No bus service like Cancun, but not an issue.

We loved the area..the local people..It felt like we were in Mexico. We felt very safe..whether we stayed at the hotel..took a taxi into town or taxied to a local beach. Everyone was friendly and helpful. As for the hotel..it was clean,fun,a nice mix of ages. The staff was professional and alot of fun. We would recommend it to anyone.

Excellent relaxing hotel and wonderful beach sports like kayacking, volleyball and skidoo's.
