Excellente! We love our stay at VR !
My wife and I spent a week at VR from 1/27 to 2/3 and we had a wonderful time; if you enjoy the person you travel with, VR is a great place to rejuvenate your relationship and let go of everyday stresses. I read alot of reviews on TA as I always do before I book a trip. This review will be rather lengthy because my hope is to "pay-it-forward" and offer some help to others looking for opinions, advice and answers.I agree with a majority of the below reviews which rave about the staff, the food, the beach etc. When we arrived via the hotel's private yacht (Coccon) [...]was there at the dock to greet us, along with a bellman to take our baggage. [...]is one of the most charming people I have ever met at any hotel or resort.. We had one minor issue during our stay and [...]handled it in an extremely professional and kind manner. When we checked in, [...]spent a good half hour with us, going over highlights of the hotel and island, reviewing a map with us, taking us to our room and showing us how to use the sound sytem and Satellite TV, the steam room in the bathroom etc (the thing is we didnt ask [...]to do this--he just did! Excellente [...]!), He then turned the jacuzzi on for us and advised in about 30-40 mins it would be hot (95-100 F). We thought that's terrific-we will go to the beach, pool and have a before dinner soak in the jacuzzi. When we got back to the room a couple of hours later, the jacuzzi was still cold. Not a huge deal for us. We waited until bedtime that night and checked it again and it was still cold. We were not disappointed, but the next morning I politely let the front desk know our jacuzzi isnt working. Within 5 minutes (that's right 5 minutes!) someone was working on the jacuzzi. They explained it was the motor and it will be fixed later that day. No problem for us. Well, later that day, something was wrong with the jacuzzi again. Day after that the jacuzzi jets ran all night long, and we couldn't shut it off. So, on our 3rd day, I politely informed the front desk that the jacuzzi ran all night long and is it possbile to repair it again or could we get another room. I told the front desk person ([...]) who was very professional that I was a bit embarrassed coming down the 3rd morning in a row concerning our jacuzzi--she assured me that it is they (VR) who are embarrassed and she will discuss the situation with [...]. I told her there is no hurry as we are going to go to town and have lunch and spend some time in town for the day. When we returned to VR, [...]spotted me and in a very professional and friendly way, put his arm on my shoulder and informed me that they are going to upgrade our room to another room with a working jacuzzi-and we are "really going to love this room". We originally had a junior suite, and [...]upgraded us to a junior suite deluxe. He was right--we LOVED this room--moved from 2nd floor to 3rd floor, The view was spectacular, the balcony was large, and the jacuzzi looked brand new. What I really would like to comment on was how professional everything was handled. Maintenance arrived all 3 mornings within 5 minutes and the front desk and [...]were terrific. As for meals, we loved having the included breakfast delivered via room service most mornings, The breakfast is included and includes everything you could want, breads, croissants (we always asked for extra chocolate croissants :c) ,fresh fruiit, coffee, fresh squeezed oj and a small plate of french toast, Also, you can order any main breakfast course as well. There was a dish I had twice--don't remember what it was called but it was akin to a "Mexican Hash Brown". It was a giant potato patty blended with eggs and onions. They also had Mexican Eggs-scrambled with hot pepper, onions and tomatoes, and omelettes etc.For lunch, we loved their pizzas-they have a wood-fired oven. The fish ceviche was some of the best ceviche we ever had.We weren't "wowed" by dinners-we had purchased the dinner plan and had most of our dinners at th...

Food & Service Extraordinaire
Villa Rolandi provides an extraordinary level of food and service, among the best that we have ever experienced. Dinner in their attractive, open-air dining room is pure gourmet fare with many innovative and unusual dishes. Although their beach is quite small, it provides a distant view of Cancun and is well maintained. The only negative to our whole experience is that water in our shower was lukewarm at best, which we understand from other guests was a common problem. Being shuttled between the port in Cancun to the resort's own dock in their own cataraman, both coming and going, enhanced our experience.

Buying both our flights and the hotel accommodation (including dinners at the hotel) was a real money-saver. Including dinners was especially beneficial as the food was terrific, less costly than ordering from the menu and as other restaurant options are a cab ride away.

Absolutely Wonderful!
This was a relaxing beautiful place! We enjoyed a quiet four days away from the children. The service was impeccable, food was delicious, and the hotel is absolutely beautiful! The resort was the primary focus of our vacation. The island itself doesn't offer a lot of touristy options, although there are some fun "Mexican markets" that offer souvenir-type merchandise...perfect for gifts for the kids and some fun small restaurants. The only small complaint of the hotel...the water temperature in the shower was inconsistent. Sometimes cold in the middle of the day. Otherwise, it was perfect and we enjoyed ourselves immensely!

Villa Rolandi.....WOW!
Impressed the instant I set foot in the Hotel! Quaint, tastefully furnished and decorated, impeccably clean and superb service. Pool and ocean views were like photos in a magazine. Charming restaurant on the edge of the ocean with 270 degree spectacular view of water and lights of Cancun in the far distance. Very romantic! Broad and interesting menu, including a B+ wine selection. Ate dinner 4 nights and were never less then very impressed with quality of food and service. Room with ocean view, terrace with Jacuzzi, comfortable King size with excellent linen, bathroom gets A++ with 6 nozzles, steam, music and window with ocean view! This could possibly be my all-time favorite hotel! Definitely going back, possibly very soon!

Wonderful stay!
Hotel was WELL worth the little extra we spent, compared to other hotels in the main district. We prefer being away from the hustle and bustle of downtown, but be prepared to rent a golf cart or taxi - it's not really near any restaurants or stores. (considering the whole island is about 2 miles long - not really a big deal). Staff was very gracious, room was nice - great view!! All the rooms have the same ocean front view. Bathrooms were great - HUGE steam shower. Ate at the restaurant a couple if times. Very good, but would have liked a less fancy option. If you dont want the fancy menu at lunch just ask for the "snack" menu - lighter fare. Huge salt water hot tub was nice, since we didnt get the fancier room with the patio hot tub - why? When the main one is just steps from the rooms? Small beach but plenty of chairs and room for guests - a nice feature if choosing a small hotel.

Great hotel if you have the money...
Overall our stay at Villa Rolandi was a good experience, although I don't know if I would choose to stay here again. Hotel staff were all excellent as was the service staff. The rooms are beyond reproach and the food was excellent...so what's the problem you ask? Well we were a bit surprised at the value for our money, It just wasn't quite there. Wine at $14 a glass, and drinks from the bar which were sub par (couldn't tell if there was any alcohol in them) from other places we've been in Mexico was really an area were it would be fairly inexpensive for the hotel to cut you a break and make you feel a little better about those hard earned dollars you were spending over there. Forced tipping at an additional 15% on the value of the menu items added greatly to an already expensive vacation package. Also for a hotel which advertises itself as a spa and wellness location, there was no real gym facilities to speak of. I have a better equipped gym in my garage than the fitness room at this 5 star location. One stationary bike, a cheap elliptical with broken electronics, and one rusting universal type machine. Mobility was another issue as there really wasn't anything within good walking distance from the hotel in terms of entertainment or interesting places to see. Although taxis to town centre were about $6 one way, renting a golf cart was the best way to go. It gave you the freedom and mobility to explore. This was an expensive option however at $55 U.S. for 9-5pm rental. How about including a hotel discount or package on golf cart rentals depending on length of stay? All in all a good 'one time' experience, only marred by the feeling that after travelling all that way we were paying near top price for everything.
