Villa Rolandi Thalasso Spa Gourmet and Beach Club - Adults Oriented

After a year in Iraq I wanted some peace and quiet. Villa Rolandi provided that. My visit in Sept 2010 exceeded expectations. The staff were gracious and friendly. Rooms nicely appointed;the tikul stone floors were nice touch, smooth and cool to walk on a warm day, the bed comfortable, with twice daily maid service. The lighting could be dimmed, which was nice. The shower was great, no problems with lack of hot water. The mini fridge constantly stocked with water, soda and beer which was great for day trips, I could just pack it along. The jacuzzi on the patio was a great feature, and the beautiful flowers on the balcony and all around the pool area and lobby were nice. Big towels and comfy chairs all around the pools, (1fresh water, one salt water) and lounge chairs out on the beach area with some palm trees for shade. You can even arrange to have a candlelit dinner on the beach. All staff I encountered were friendly and knew my name, perhaps because there were only 5 rooms occupied due to the off-season plus the recent Gulf oil spill. Lucky for me! The water was beautiful, genlte waves, I spent a lot of time floating around there. The hotel arranged a day tour to Tulum and Xel-ha for me, complete with ferry transfer tickets that saved a lot of time and confusion, and another day a snorkel tour, and also golf cart rental. The restaurant had delicious food, and the staff was kind enough to keep my bottle of wine selection for me so that I could indulge in a glass every night with dinner. Everything was so laid-back & romantic, I wished I was there on honeymoon rather than by myself! Speaking of which, as a single female traveler, I felt very safe, the doors to the room were very solid, and if someone wanted to get up to my room they would have had to get past the lobby staff first. I had a blast driving around the island in the golfcat, visited Casa Mundaca(Pirates house) and Ixchel temple. The only gripe I can think of is that the wireless didn't work in the room;most days I had to go out to the lobby to get signal, but really, no big deal. I mean, you're on a tropical Island, don't spend all day on a computer, right? All in all, after days I didn't want to leave, & I definitely put a lot of the stress of Iraq behind me! If you like small, quiet, luxury hotel experiences, then this a perfect option! This is a little gem of a property located on it's own gorgeous private beach. All rooms have ocean views. The staff remembers your name and the food at the Casa Rolandi restaurant is exceptional. Would definitely go back!

Impressed the instant I set foot in the Hotel! Quaint, tastefully furnished and decorated, impeccably clean and superb service. Pool and ocean views were like photos in a magazine. Charming restaurant on the edge of the ocean with 270 degree spectacular view of water and lights of Cancun in the far distance. Very romantic! Broad and interesting menu, including a B+ wine selection. Ate dinner 4 nights and were never less then very impressed with quality of food and service. Room with ocean view, terrace with Jacuzzi, comfortable King size with excellent linen, bathroom gets A++ with 6 nozzles, steam, music and window with ocean view! This could possibly be my all-time favorite hotel! Definitely going back, possibly very soon!

From my prompt pickup at the airport by Grayline Shuttle Service to my transfer to the private yacht arrangements were coordinated perfectly. Can't say enough about the accomodations and service. All the staff were very helpful, especially restaurant and front desk. Looking forward to my next visit.

After a hectic day of travel (missed original flight, flight from Dallas to Cancun was delayed because of a mechanical problem), getting to Villa Rolandi was like coming to paradise. The hotel yacht picked me up in Cancun and I watched as the bright lights of that city fade away and the tranquil beauty of Isla Mujeres come into sight. I was greeted at the dock and guided up to the reception area while behind me my baggage was disembarked, loaded and brought up. I was offered a drink and a moment to look around at the tastefuly decorated lobby. Moments later I was in my room where a cold dinner and white wine were waiting for me (because of the delays, I arrived after their kitchen had closed but when I had called them earlier to let them know the sitch, they had offered to leave some appetizers in my room). The jacuzzi on my balcony (every room has one) had been freshly prepared. As soon as the bellboy had left, I pulled out my bikini from my suitcase, brought the food out to the balcony and sank into the jacuzzi. From the balcony, I could see Cancun in the distance. And that was only the first hour I was there. Everyone who works at the hotel is very nice. If you attempt some Spanish, they are even nicer to you. My first day the front desk arranged a private yoga lesson and a massage for that afternoon. The private beach was private. There weren't a lot of people at the hotel (off-season) so I got to carve out a large bit of it for myself. Unlike the beaches at Cabo, there were no vendors hawking their wares every five minutes. The food was pretty good -- just be careful of the fruit. Some of it didn't agree with my stomach. Breakfast was delivered every morning through a little cubby in the dressing room so as to not disturb me. The bed was comfy. I enjoyed the turn down service every night that included another complimentary bottle of water. Free wifi was cool so I could upload pictures of the island onto Facebook. The staff did every thing possible to accommodate me. When I asked for yogurt and granola for dessert to be brought up to my room, it was there within ten minutes. Would I do it over again? Absolutely. Would I go back? If I can ...
