a stylish base to explore Mexico City
A colonial Boutique Hotel (few rooms, personal ambiance) close to the historical city center and next to a subway station. Ours suites were spacious with a stylish touch. Staff was very friendly. Choice in restaurant was limited. Rooms towards street can be noisy. Cool (in both senses) lounge on the roof. No pool.

Great, but take ear plugs
Historic charm with modern amenities and sensibility. Perfect location across the park from the Opera House. Staff is alert, attentive, and on their game. The night club on the roof can be noisy - they love techno bass, but if you have ear plugs you'll be fine. Cocktails could be better - but beer drinkers were just fine. They booked a reception for the United Nations our last night - and when we expressed our disappointments, the management stepped up to the plate and provided suitable accommodations to end our stay a pleasant one.

Money-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
Skip the water and snacks in your room. Though we were told they would replace "free" bottled water every second day, that did not happen. Regardless, there are many convenient stores to store up bottled water in the area - get out and enjoy the neighborhood. You could buy water for almost the entire week for what one bottle of Fuji would cost you from the mini bar.

great weekend getaway
The hotel staff was very attentive to us and helped us find many locations that we knew about but were never shown in a guidebook. A pool would have been a great thing to have but given its historic site, one can't have everything.
