Hotel review in Mexico City

Overall Galleria PLaza Reforma is well located, good service, concierge and room service helpful. Accomodation though itsn't a luxury hotel, it is well equiped. Rooms well decorated and services also good. Cleam, everyday maid service in rooms. Safe deposit Box available. Cafeteria variaty of choices. Buffett and a la carte. One thing I was surpriced to learn that parking is not included in the package. Hotel charged me with parking and I resind it. [...] Overall Plaza Fiesta Reforma is a GOOD hOTEL IN Mexico City.

Better than the reviews

I would recommend the upgrade to business floor. Includes the small breakfast and free local calls from the lounge. Plus there are free drinks all day, free wine after 6:30. The buffet is 22 dollars and there are much better local places right down the street. The room was clean with 5 or 6 english tv channels. The air was good, bed was stiff but ok. Bathroom was very clean and they did a good job on cleaning every day. Everyone is friendly and speak english for the most part. The hotel is right on the edge of the zona rosa. Lots of food and bars everywhere. 7-11 and circleK are evrywhere too so dont worry. The water in the hotel is 100% filtered so dont listen to anyone saying its bad. If you want to book a trip from there its a no brainer. The pick-up from the airport and back was easy as pie. Even if youre a lost soul you can do it. This hotel is not the best but for the price its outstanding. You only sleep there anyway so dont be so picky. Yes the whole area is safe and pretty clean.

The hotel is in the center and close to public transport. It is in a "quiet" zone, lots of people and lots of life - but secure. Good resraurants nearby.

Super expensive

I have travel to many cities in Mexico but this trip was the worst to beging with the fly and ending with hotel. They charge me for the nuts they serve at the bar in adittion to the high prices for their drinks. But the worst of all was that They charge me $700 American Dollars!!!! for 6 phone calls I made. Eventhough some of those phone calls did not go through..

Great Location, Adequate Accommodation

This hotel is in a great location. It is only a block from the Angel Monument and the tour bus that goes around the city. There are also a few great restaurants within walking distance. The hotel was clean and the concierge was FANTASTIC. It wasn't the fanciest place but it was definitely good for the price. The negatives were little things. The pool was only open till 7 which was annoying, our towels were MIA after a room cleaning and though I had requested a two-bed room we only got a single king. The restaurant didn't offer much variety and the breakfast service was slow but the food was good. You also have to get a different code to use internet every 24 hours which is more annoying than anything. It was a good experience and for the price and location I would definitely stay there again.

Nice hotel great location, some issues

We arrived late and they did not have our 2 adjoining non-smoking rooms as requested (we have 3 kids). We had to take rooms down the hall from each other and switched the next day. The rooms were fairly modern and clean but lighting could be better and TV's are old. Comfortable beds & linens. Awesome location, very central. Now the bad: hotel restaurant is poor but there are many good restaurants of all types in the vicinity. Gym has very little equipment, some equipment was old and some broken. Pool looks much, much better in pics than in person. Still, a great deal for the $$.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

The Japanese food, several restaurants down the street, was excellent and reasonable. We were afraid of the hygiene issues but they were among the cleanest restaurants in the city, we all ate sushi w/ no issues.

Great Value Hotel for the Turista

We went to Mexico City to visit our son who is working at the University of Monterey. First time I've been there in 30 years. Before I get into the hotel a few observations:1. Mexico City is a real city with amazing diverse neighborhoods ranging from the Colonial to the Modern.2. The people are as friendly, cordial, welcoming and helpful as I've met anywhere in the world and I've been just about everywhere.3. Safety should not be an issue for anyone with decent street smarts. Don't walk around with bling, cameras, maps. And take licensed taxi cabs. They are a bit more pricey but still nothing compared to US prices. A 30 minute cab from a hotel taxi to the airport will cost you less than $20. A hailed cab will cost you $10 but not worth the aggravation.4. Traffic is tough so if you want to see multiple neighborhoods during a short stay, it's better to stay somewhere more central. Thus my hotel review. The Galleria Plaza Reforma is a very nice hotel with great but not overbearing service and a real desire to serve the customer. We booked an [...]trip from San Jose, California with 4 nights and airfare for 2 persons for just over $1,000.There is a great outdoor rooftop pool that overlooks the volcanic mountains surrounding Mexico City. A great place to have your morning coffee and cigarette if you are so inclined. The hotel is located in the Zona Rosa which is close to many other very cool and historic Districts but not so great to my thinking. Very little shopping, a lot of mediocre restaurants, fast foods and the like. But if you like it a little edgy, it's fine. But not my cup of tea. But for a few bucks cab ride you can be in any one of any other 5 great neighborhoods in 5-15 minutes. We had a couple of what I'd consider two-star Michelin dining experiences for 30% of what you'd pay in the US. Especially Bakea in Los Lomos neighborhood. Almost Joel Robuchon quality. And for the local go-to cuisine the sopa tortilla and the tacos al pastor are to die for.So to sum up, 3 stars for the Zona Rosa, 4 stars for the hotel (I'd go back in a minute) and 5 stars for the people of Mexico City!
