Perfect, No Buyer's Remorse
Everything is as nice in person as it is in the pics--no surprises. Overall hotel is of high quality w/ great décor, staff, and beds. Room awesome. Single queen bed w/ soft mattress and lots of fluff from pillows and sheets. Flat panel TV in room w/ lots of channels in English and Spanish. Bathroom clean, upscale w/a modern sink, a toilet w/ a toilet seat, and whirlpool bath. Safe in room works. WiFi fast, spotty at night. Location excellent. Near Turibus stops, Metro Cuatémoc, amazing up scale mall nearby (.5mi left when exit lobby), along main ave., near Zona Rosa. This hotel is a Go.

At Emporio you'll feel at home
This is the third time that I stay at the Hotel Emporio in Mexico DF. A small, neat, good food, excellent service, clean and well placed hotel. Rooms are not big but comfortable. You can enjoy a small gym and spa. Internet at any hour, free. All in all, I sincerely recommend this hotel. And the prize is good too.

Great New Years Trip!
The hotel is near the government center, easy walking. Convenient to subways and buses. English speaking personnel. The regular room is too small. You need double beds or Jr, suite. Try for a street view. We felt quite comfortable and safe. Suggest you bring your own coffie, sugar, splenda and creamer as charges are rather high if sent to the room.

Good base for Mexico City
We got a good deal with our flights so used this as a base for our 9 day stay. Location is quite good although it isn't that close to the metro and there are not a lot of restaurants near the hotel. Room was small but sufficient. Hotel has wifi. Taxis booked through the hotel are expensive compared to those booked elsewhere. Would probably look to stay in Condesa next time to be able to walk to restaurants.

great experience
we stayed for 3 nights at the emporio df, and had a wonderful experience. we were on vacation, not business travel, but the hotel catered to us well in that regard being that it is primarily a business hotel. very clean and modern with great bathroom (jacuzzi bathtub!) and amenities not to mention the location is excellent and central to roma, condesa and the centro historico. polanco is a bit farther uptown, but a taxi is only 30 pesos so not a big deal. the staff was very helpful, the experience overall was tops. super comfy bed too! yeah! will definitely go back.

Good location, meager rooms
The hotel is well located, of course, depending on your business requirements in Mexico City. The rooms are quite small for the rate offered. It is far from being a boutique hotel as they present it in the hotel listings they belong to. Food is not out of the ordinary and do not be fooled by the facade views, most of the rooms are located in a back tower with no architectural designed and are crammed together. The noise from adjacent rooms is noticeable and can be a nuisance if you are a light sleeper.

Polanco has the best dining in town, Masaryk being the busiest street, you may find all kinds of restaurants and all budgets. Mexico's modern gourmet expressed at it´s finest in this street´s restaurants.

Excellent vacation
We stayed at Hotel Emporio for 9 nights, 10 days. From the moment we arrived until the last day that we left, we had a wonderful, relaxing, stress-free experience. I was most impressed with the staff who facilitated our trips to Xochimilco, Taxco, Cuernavaca, UNAM and amusement parks. The hotel was close enough to the Zocalo that we walked there almost on a daily basis to enjoy the festive 16 de septiembre celebrations. I felt safe at all times, even in the evenings walking back from the Zocalo. The only caveat is not to ask police for directions. They seemed to be more directionally challenged than me. I would highly recommend the Emporio. The environment is quiet, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the cost is reasonable. This was the second time I had stayed at Emporio and will stay there the next time I return to Mexico City.

Shopping tip:
Not Applicable
I would ask tour guides or hotel staff for recommendations concerning shopping for jewelry. There are some excellent silver jewelry shops in DF and of course in Taxco. Staff and tour guides were extremely helpful in finding shops with value and quality.

RV the Business Traveler
Cheap...you get what u pay for...
Spent March 29th night at the Emporio in Mexico City. Arrived late but since I had a pre-paid reservation [...] I had no issue getting my room. The room was small, even for business travel standards. Furniture is modern and they made a good effort to create a "hip" environment. Still, the air condition unit hardly worked. I had it all night working by setting the thermostat at 15 Centigrades just to reach 26 by the time I left (only went down two degrees from 28 through all night). The bathroom had a bad smell, like sulfur, not too strong but still some. Overall the room was clean. Staff was friendly on arrival. Location is ok to downtown area and central Reforma Avenue. If you travel for business, note their Internet access although free, is by no means high speed. It was wireless but pages paint like in the good ole phone modem days. Also, no matter what I tried, I was not able to make my VPN work. This was very bad in my case. In a nutshell, the place is cheap and here, you get what you pay for. There are much better options near by, at similar or slightly higher rates. Safe travels! RV.
