Sandos Caracol Eco Resort and Spa All Inclusive

We took a family vacation over Christmas for a large group of us all coming from different states. From the minute we stepped foot inside, to the sad moment we left, our every need was attended to. There were people ready to hand you a drink at every turn, and for those of us who do not drink much liquor (although many in our party did and they were very generous), they had some amazing smoothies (try the "spa life" one with a little orange in it!). They had food everywhere and all night, and the restaurants you could register to spend an evening with were exquisite food- like unbelievably good and deserts and special drinks at each place to match. The service staff was even better (as if things could get any better), and everything was beautiful with lots of things to do if you were not sitting on the beach (and half of the beach has beds on it! we slept on the beach one night!). There were animals and trails and places to explore and the cenote to swim in. Of all the places we have gone (Europe, Africa, Central America, and even a number of cruises), I have never had a better vacation anywhere ever. This is an amazing place, and the staff is amazing. At night, there is a glass blower that comes and makes all kinds of stuff very inexpensively, and they are beautiful (worth your time) We are counting the days until we can all go back!!!!!

I have traveled through Mexico many times, and I can say this Resort is better than a 3-Star Hotel. The rooms were very nice and comfortable. As a Resort the food and attractions were great, as advertised, and better than many reviews I have read. I did have some problems with the round trip transportation sold with our reservation. The appointment to confirm my departure pickup never showed up (happened twice) and the hotel staff had to call Cancun (twice) for me to get it straightened out, again the Hotel Staff were very nice and solved the problem for me with no charge for the phone calls. I could go on and on about how good the food was, and drinks everywhere!! Do make your reservations at the Ala-Cart restaurants early.. They have special schedules, but they were good also.. The sea food ceviche at the Mexican buffet was great!! (But not on the buffet every night). Take advantage of the Cappuccino, it was good and included in the drinks… We had a small child, she enjoyed the pools and the Kids Club workers were nice. A few critical comments, just incase this is read by the hotel!! The vent hoods did not work at the Japanese grill.. Very smoky, but the food was good… Our room AC had a strange rattle in the fan (sounded like the bongo show at night!!), but it worked OK. NO fresh oranges of any kind!! This is unheard of in Mexico!! No fresh bananas, or strawberries. They did have fresh grapefruit and apples. The liquor was NOT top shelf, no 40% Alc. orange liquor for the margaritas, Bla Margaritas.. But for no extra charge it was OK.. I would go again and it was better than any other hotel stay I have had in Mexico!!

THE GOOD surprised by quality and variety of food both at buffets and ala cart. We usually hate the food at all inclusives but loved this one. The Brazilian place was as good as any restaurant in Chicago. Make your ala carte reservations on day one and check back if you don't get the ones you want. Loved the asparagus and stuffed avocados at Brazilian. Loved the cream of zucchini soup at the italian restaurant. Junior suite spacious for family of 4 with a 2 and 5 year old, nice big clean bathroom. Plenty of room for clothes and bags. Kids club was my 5 year olds favorite place, had to bribe him to come out with ice cream. No charge, no reservation needed but your kid will need socks. Jet skiing was a blast ;nice beach and pools. Good amount of shade if you need it Clean, safe ,no theft of any kind with valuables left poolside and in room Easy check in/out, good service throughout. We even lost an iPhone in our room and the maid found it for us right away, under the pillows Great trails and wildlife Nice towels in room and pool There are lifeguards at the water slide pool so you can watch your kid from your lounge chair. Plus it's only 1.5 feet deep Bellmen came in 5 minutes when called for check out. Arranged a cab back to airport for $40 us. (was 90 to get to the resort from airport) THE BAD: uncomfortable beds and pillows, some ants and spiders but it is in a jungle and the maids did spray immediately when asked. Time share lady wanted us to come to breakfast but just say no thank you and she will be ok. The doctor did not have band aides but did give us gauze. (Gift shop had band aides) Water park was great for the 5 year old but don't expect big slides. In fact it says is for kids under 11 only which seems right.

This location is absolutely gorgeous! My friends and I went for a wedding (which went off without a hitch thanks to the awesome staff). Between the wedding and the drinks I don't think I could have had a better time. I met so many great people from different countries and the kids that we were with were wore out every night because there was so much. We did really want a karaoke portion because with such a diverse crowd I feel like it would have been a hit but we ended up meeting so many people it was somewhat of a just hopeful desire. We also loved how safe we felt while there. As we walked we never felt like anything bad would happen. I will definitely tell others to go as well. We have made plans already to go back next year with some friends from other countries that we met there.

This hotel is beautiful with fantastic staff! The food is good and the shows at night were fantastic! The pools were a little on the chilly side but they were very clean and beautiful! The kids aqua park is amazin!

Our toilet never worked, we spent each day calling staff to come fix it. Wish they would have moved us. Staff was excellent. Cheap tickets screwed our transportation to the hotel. Ended up costing us an addtional 165.00 round trip. How they messed it up is beyond me. They so owe me.

Hotel staff wass great, got a a free uprgade for the adults area. The only problem that we had was that our room was on the first floor and many bugs enter from under the door. If you are planning to stay in this hotel stay in the upper floors.

This was an ok hotel. I should know better than to stay at an all inclusive and expect good food. How they remove flavor from everything is a mystery. We were unable to have the ala carte meal where we wanted as all reservations "were taken". We tried the restaurant anyway, and it was empty. We did get into another "fully reserved" restaurant that was also empty. On the plus side, the staff was friendly, and we liked the spa pool. And the beach was nice as well.

I'm a little disappointment with the reception service. The attention for the check-in was delayed and I did complaint about the room ( humidity and cigarette smell) but the hotel never response me why !! But the food , the activities , Staff, the beach and sand are fantastic !!

We had a great time at this resort. Honestly, when we first arrived at the hotel and found out that our room was about a 7 minute walk to the beach we were very disappointed, but as we started to explore the facility and all that it had to offer we were very impressed. The beach, pools, food, drinks, and service were all excellent. The grounds were amazing, very well kept and so much to explore. Every day we took a new route back to our room and found something new. It made the walk to the room well worth it.
