Description
This is a perfect option due to its price, quality and location. We recommend it. (SB 03/08) The exterior looks like an art deco building from the beginning of the 1920s. The building is divided in two wings. This property is right in the centre of the city. It is walking distance from the train station and the old part of the city. All the shopping and entertainment area are close to the hotel too. It’s a perfect location.

the is a 3 star hotel, which has old style charm to it from the 20/30's. the hotel is clean, the reception is multi lingual and friendly. I breakfast had on the upper terrace with a superberb view of the parliment building! Ask for the 3rd floor room facing the parliment, when its sunset it glows slight red!Theres a small tv in the room, channels are french and arabic, but theres lounge on the 1st floor which has a big LCD screen, and traditional maroccan decor, its always empty. one gripe the staff kept taking the towels! overall i had a great experience and i would return to Htl Balima, thumbs up

The AC did not work and the place

  • Jerry Verified Customer
  • 13 Jan 2010
The AC did not work and the place smelled moldy and smoky. The staff was just OK and not very friendly. The dining staff in particular seemed very unhappy. this was quite unlike any other service (very warm and friendly) at other establishments in Morocco during our two week vacation in that country.

Very nice hotel in a good location

Seems like Rabat is mainly a business destination. Hotels are kind of scattered around the city and Americans are not going to find any familiar brands. This hotel is part of the Accord chain and is very comfortable for an American business traveler. Breakfast is excellent. Dinner was also very good but the menu is fairly short - the Moroccan dishes were as good as I had in 2 weeks in the country. Small full service bar, good wine list with quite nice Moroccan wine selection. The Mercure is situated in a very nice neighborhood - kind of the medical district with lots of doctor's offices and laboratories. Nightlife (such as it is in Rabat)and the Medina are a short walk (just head toward the ocean and you can't miss it). Only downside was the lack of in-room internet. This was the case in every hotel I stayed in, in Nov 2009 regardless of the location or brand. Not sure if it was an economic thing or security thing. Internet worked fine in the lobby so either get one of the "high boost" wifi gadgets or plan on working in the lobby.

The hotel is beautiful interior and exterior. The rooms are modern. There is a jaque dissange hairdresser and small stores in the interior and wonderful seating outside for coffee or tea. Room service was fast with delicious foods. The staff were really helpful especially the concierge. I would definitely go back to this hotel.

A excellent choice in Rabat

  • 27 Sep 2010
After 2 weeks of traveling this was a quiet, well run hotel 2 blocks from the main train station (you can walk to it easily) and had a tub to soak and relax and prepare for our flight home. Airport which does not open until 5 AM for early flights is a $25 ride away. Easy to see the sights of Rabat and after climbing lots of stairs it was nice to find an elevator to our fourth floor room.

The hotel has a nightclub on the first floor of the hotel. Our room was on the second floor and around 11 at night it seemed the club was right outside our door. We complained and the staff moved us to a nice quiet room. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They have a great breakfast and dinner buffet along with other dinning facilities.

I was pleased with the hotel. My room was spacious and clean and the staff was friendly. I thought the buffet breakfast (which was included in the price I paid) was very good. There was a large amount of choice and variety, including Moroccan specialities. The location was good. It was a short walk to the medina and also a short walk to the center of town and the Rabat ville train station. I noticed that tour groups used the hotel, perhaps also a vote of confidence that the hotel provides consistently reliable value.

Description
This property is the only traditional hotel in town and it is in a very good shape. In our opinion the best hotel in Rabat, for location, tradition, service and style. Highly recommended. (AK 09/10) The hotel looks like a small citadel especially with the old wall surrounding the hotel. Inside the different patio garden gives a nice atmosphere to the hotel, with the fountains and chairs and terraces where to have the typical Moroccan tea. This traditional hotel is perfectly located in the centre of town, a sort walk to most of the tourist sights in Rabat and the train station. It has also a good access to the highway which connects the whole country.

Great for the money

  • Jim Verified Customer

This is a small, non-fancy hotel that is a gem for the price. The restaurant is surprisingly good, esipecially for the price. Service is OK, rooms are tiny, and it can be a bit noisy. On the other hand it is very convenient (as in 1 minute by foot) to the Rabat Agdal train station. If looking to reserve at another Ibis Mussafir go through the Internet and book through Orbitz. Reservations are seldom available going through the front desk and not always honored at the next hotel. Orbitz always seems to have reservations available and I had no problem having them honored.
