Nice alternative next door to more expensive Hilton in quiet residential neighborhood. A bit out of city center, but easy walking/tram to all points of interest and services. Very comfortable room - only comment is no A/C and rooms tend to be hot (we were there in October/November). Pleasant staff. Didn't use restaurant, but looked nice (and on expensive side, but that's Amsterdam).

C'est un hôtel globalement correct, cependant il y a du "laisser-aller" en ce qui concerne la propreté des chambre. De la poussière sur le lit en entrant dans la chambre ça fait moyen, on aurait vraiment dit que ça avait pas été nettoyé...

Amsterdam is an old and expensive city-hotels are not cheap at any location. City garden was in a great location, although old and in need of a referbish especially the bathroom. It was nice to have been able to open the window and enjoy the fresh air in our room. The breakfast supplied was a pleasant surprise with a nice selection of offers. Staff were maybe a little too relaxed to be helpful when assistance was required. Overall, it was what I expected and I am not unhappy as we had a great time.

Great Location, don't get a budget room!

  • BlondeeBee
  • 11 May 2011
While we stayed, we did all the sight seeing. The city was so welcoming and would totally go back. However, I would not stay at the same hotel. The staff was really nice but our room was awful. It had two twin beds pushed together,in the basement, a window that let no light in, and our shower flooded twice! Maybe I missed the fine print when booking the room but I will never stay in anything like that again. The area was great and couldnt have asked for a cooler location. If you are staying for a few nights, it would be fine and looking to save money. However, anything more than that I would not suggest it. If you stay there get a larger room when you book because they fill up fast and we were not able to upgrade because it was full.

I actually was "upgraded" to the JL Hotel, which has the same owner. It is a very modern hotel, mostly clean and comfortable. However, when I filled the tub and turned on the whirlpool, there were rather disgusting particles floating around. Also the breakfast at 20 euros is ridiculously expensive. The location near the major museums is great.

Good for what it is

  • juxta1983
  • 10 Jan 2012
This hotel is perfectly good no thrills accommodation, the room is basic, but clean and the bed was comfortable. We were at the top of the hotel and it was up a very steep set of stairs, which wouldn't be good for those who have difficulty climbing... The breakfast was not included in our stay and it seemed pretty pricey so didn't have it. It is close to the tram into the city and also close to a huge park.

Good for a quick trip at a reasonable price

  • CorrsFans
  • 14 Dec 2011
We stayed for just one night at this hotel because it was offered at a reasonable rate and was in a convenient location for us. We were able to walk to the hotel from the Park & Ride which was convenient. The hotel was clean and orderly. The staff seemed nice. We weren't there for very long and did not eat breakfast so I don't know how the breakfast is. The room was clean and the beds were okay - but nothing special. All in all, it's a great place for a cheaper cost than many of the other Amsterdam locations. It was clean and seemed safe. But don't expect luxury. :-)

Description
Hotel Europa 92 is one of the few remaining family-run 3-star hotels in Amsterdam. An atmospheric, centrally located 'home from home', it's conveniently close to the Leidseplein, Vondelpark, Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk Museum and Van Gogh Museum. Amsterdam is a city with something to offer everyone: culture, history, an intoxicating nightlife, delicious food and fantastic shopping. Because it's so centrally located, Hotel Europa '92 is an ideal place to base you during a weekend or mid-week stay in Amsterdam. Inside, you'll find a relaxed outdoor atmosphere. Hotel's cozy bar is open every day until 1 am, and behind the hotel there's a magnificent garden. If you spend time sitting here, the hustle and bustle of the city will seem very far away. It's the perfect spot to relax after a day's ramble through the glories of Amsterdam or simply to enjoy a drink. We also serve breakfast outside in the summer. General Information: Amsterdam is sometimes justifiably referred to as one of the world's biggest 'little' cities-a place where every visitor will find something to interest them among the canals lined by magnificent merchants' houses, the bridges and the innumerable cozy bars, restaurants and narrow streets. The bustling Leidseplein with its dozens of typical Amsterdam restaurants, cafes and discos, is only a 4-minute walk away. A little further along is the Paulus Potterstraat, famous for its three world-class museums: the Rijksmuseum, Het Stedelijk Museum, and the Museum. The relaxing, delightful Vondelpark is also a mere stone's throw away. Come here to walk, sit on a park bench and people-watch, and forget you're in the middle of a city. The Max Euweplein is also worth a mention, with its attractive shops, lunchrooms, stand-up comedy venues and the Holland Casino. A 5% city tax is to be paid at the hotel.

Decent with a good bed

  • MattthewW222
  • 15 Nov 2011
Overall, the hotel had some high points and low points. Some of the high points included being bumped to a double from a single, and the bed was excellent. Also, the hotel was in a good location, just a 5-6 minute tram ride from Dam Square, and closer to Leidseplein and Museumplein. Also, the tram stop was maybe 100 feet from the door of the hotel. Some of the negatives included were a slow drain in the shower, and the interior was a bit dated. Also, the stairs were very steep (although, you'd get this at any hotel in an older building in Amsterdam). And cigarette smoke wafted up from rooms below into my room, despite having the window closed.

Description
Conscious Hotel Vondelpark is a stunning, luxurious, eco-friendly hotel in the heart of Amsterdam and right beside Vondelpark, 470,000 m2 of parkland equally suitable for energetic in-line skating and relaxing strolls beneath the trees. The hotel is just a short walk, quick bike ride or 2-minute tram ride from the Leidseplein and walking distance from the famous Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk Museum and Van Gogh Museum. There is even a Filmmuseum in Vondelpark itself if you just cannot get to a museum quick enough! The hotel itself was totally refurbished in 2010 in the Conscious style. That means a fresh, clean, contemporary look with an emphasis on comfort. A really great bed means a good night's sleep so Conscious has invested heavily in providing you with sweet dreams. Guests also have the reassurance of knowing that the hotel is run on environmentally-sound principles and is Green Key Gold Certified. The furniture comes from sustainable sources and cleaning is carried out using an "Ionator" which does not use chemicals. You might also like to know that the hotel is right next door to the largest fitness centre in the Netherlands. Ask us about getting a good rate at our healthy neighbour's gym. The breakfast is organic food and there are plenty of healthy choices but we do not force you to survive on nuts and berries! At a Conscious hotel, you make the choices that are right for you.

The Hotel is clean, the rooms are big. The service from the staff is excellent , always willing to help and assist you. Very freindly hotel staff. On another issue although the Hotel is a bit of Town if you are coming by Train to Amsterdam to Central Station, There is no need to get a Taxi, Get tram N0 1 from the station and it will drop you outside the door of the Hotel You can obtain a 3 day pass for 15 Euros and get on and off as many times as possible. From the Hotel to City centre in tram N0 1 its only 10 minutes. I highly recomend this Hotel to anyone and I would have no hesitation in returning if I vist Amsterdam again

Concious Hotel Vondelpark

  • Hotel Concious Vondelpark Amsterdam
  • 25 Mar 2011
The hotel is great overall. Public transport (tram) stops directly in front of the hotel. There two sections of the hotel. There is the front sections which is located directly to the street front or the rear section. We were put in the rear. With traffic, trams, and pedestrians, it can get a bit noisy until late night. Only select rooms have A/C. If you do not speak Dutch, they speak perfect English. In fact, most of the signage in the hotel is in English. They were, however, doing some remodeling or construction in the hotel which was a bit noisy, but ceased around early evening. Also, there was not hairdryer, but I'm not sure if that's hotel-wide. The main shopping and dining location is about 3 or 4 tram stops from the hotel (via tram #1). An hour pass for the tram is 2,60 Euro. My only complaint is regarding the parking. It's is safe and enclosed, but at 22,00 Euros, it's a bit pricey.

Surprisingly big, luxurious room...

  • Jason
  • 18 Sep 2009
Our stay at the Hotel Roemer was excellent. After we checked in, we were told that our room was in the basement, which set off all sorts of red flags that our decent rate was too good to be true. However, when we saw the room, it was surprisingly big, especially the bathroom. It did not feel like a basement as there was a door that opened up onto the back patio and hence plenty of light. The only downside to the room was that there was a rather large spider perched on the base of the wall near the bed. Otherwise, the staff was top-notch. We asked whether we could use the computer in the lobby to buy tickets to the nearby museums online, and the person at the desk did everything for us, charging it to our room. Upon leaving, our train was not until 7 PM, and they were able to hold our (5) bags for 8 hours after checkout while we explored more of the city. The location is perfect, being right next to Leidseplein, the park, the Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum, shopping and transit to get around the rest of the city. We had a great stay overall!

Great dog friendly hotel, but parking ...

  • pwjohnston
  • 11 Apr 2012
Really enjoyed our stay here. You are literally less than 2 minute walk from the tram and so close to everything else in the city. Walking distance to the Van Gogh and other museums, and the shopping district. There were two drawbacks: the parking is expensive and all the street parking is metered. Check with the hotel staff though, we went over Easter weekend and had 2 days free street parking. The other drawback was you had to use very steep stairs if the elevator wasn't available, and to get into the hotel at all! Might be a problem for some visitors. Overall though, I would recommend this hotel. Oh the rooms are small, but it's not bad.

You get what you pay for

This place was way cheaper than every other hotel that was close to downtown, and there's a reason. The place is run down, staff is rude and indifferent, and the room was small and spartan even by European standards. We were on a budget and in town for only a night so it got the job done, but if I went to Amsterdam again I would spend the money and stay somewhere else.

Short Stay in Amsterdam

  • Redwingfan
  • 20 Apr 2012
The location was convenient to museums and public transportation. The room was adequate, but needed a good cleaning. The hotel itself was not clean, especially the rugs. The breakfast was very good. I worried about getting out of the hotel in case of fire. The only escape would have been through the second story window. Internet service was excellent. I will not stay at this hotel again.

Beautiful small hotel from the outside. Great location. Steps from train and park. Staff very friendly. I knew before we left that hotel rooms in Amsterdam can be small. The issue was not that is was small but not very well maintained. Our room smelled of raw sewage from the drains. What minimun towels they gave us were so worn that they were one step from holes in them. They were short on pillow cases too. Thier garden terrace" was full of weeds and unusable. Also weeds never tended to thoughout property.

Hotel room was: average. Location was good and convenient and some good/cute little cafe's near, Vondelpark near, and the Van Gogh museum....my biggest issue was the staff in the AM....You could hear EVERYthing--above, below, next to you, hallways....I heard the maids every AM going in the rooms, knocking, etc. etc. This was usually at 9 am...Just annoying that I had to be up and awake by 9 am....Very overpriced. Very.

  • 22 Apr 2010
check in was seamless, even though we arrived at 11:30a. the desk was friendly and helpful about local arrangements. the room itself was basic, husband had to turn sideways to get into room, and the tv was tiny, mounted high up on the wall, remote didn't work but you could reach the buttons on the tv itself ok. we had to leave too early to enjoy the breakfast, which starts relatively late (8a, so if you have to be somewhere, you will be getting it on the run. (but maybe they will make arrangements if you ask.) there are some great restaurants within a 6 block radius, and the hotel itself is about a 15 minute walk from the museums. the stairs are steep, if you have more than a small suitcase lugging it up 2 flights with a tight turn will be a chore.

The hotel is located in Vondel Park. Tram stops are very close on Beethovenstrasse. There are not a lot of frills with this hotel. Rooms are small but clean, bathroom was small too. It does have wireless internet in the rooms. It is close to the museum district and is quiet compared to the city center so it had what I was looking for.
