Wonderful staff - good location
The staff helped us about information to be around the city, to reserve our taxi to ther airport, made us to feel like in our own town, Great people. Breakfast buffet was also good. Room # 4 and bathroom were big considering the sizes in Europe. The steps and not elevator was the only issue not favorable to the Hotel. However the staff helped us to put up and down our luggage ! Location is great, very near to Tram # 2.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
AFFOURTIT on Koninginneweg 209 , BOND Rerstaurant (don't have the address) and Cafe Bedier on Sophianlaan 36, were three places we liked and prices were reasonable. BOND was the most expensive.

3 nights was fine
check in was seamless, even though we arrived at 11:30a. the desk was friendly and helpful about local arrangements. the room itself was basic, husband had to turn sideways to get into room, and the tv was tiny, mounted high up on the wall, remote didn't work but you could reach the buttons on the tv itself ok. we had to leave too early to enjoy the breakfast, which starts relatively late (8a, so if you have to be somewhere, you will be getting it on the run. (but maybe they will make arrangements if you ask.) there are some great restaurants within a 6 block radius, and the hotel itself is about a 15 minute walk from the museums. the stairs are steep, if you have more than a small suitcase lugging it up 2 flights with a tight turn will be a chore.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
Pulpo (innovative Med. cuisine) is down the street, 87 Willemsparkweg, and we had a delicious full dinner with wine for about 80 euros. There is also a beautiful chocolate shop on the corner, and a bakery across the intersection that had great cookies and pastries. Also, a gelato/coffee place nextdoor. Lunch at the Van Gogh museum cafeteria was relatively cheap and delicious, with great salads and deserts. We did not get the i love amsterdam card, but the tram fare to the Central train Station, one way, was only 2.6 euros, and sure beat the 30 euro taxi fare we paid coming in. The tram stop is about 50m from the hotel. If you decide to walk to the Dom (city center) it will take about 45 minutes, but the tram does it in 10.

Nightmare!
Initial checking in didn't go well because we didn't have a print out of our payment. The manager planned to charge us for the internet - to print off the payment (i.e. credit card statement!) to allow us to check in! We were charged 20 Euro per night for our 18 month old. No cribs in the entire hotel! We needed to change our son's diaper, but were not allowed the key until all payment as settled. There are very steep stairs throughout the hotel. Breakfast is only served from 8am -9:30am. The walls were paper thin & we could hear everything all night. The room was significantly dirty- everywhere! Not a place for children.

a great family vaca spot!
we visited the usual tourist spots but it was great. They didn't sell the tickets for use of all the public transportation (trams and buses).
