not fancy but it got the job done
The room was small but clean. The bathroom was new and well maintained. The staff was very helpful. There was an internet problem in the area when we were there and the staff allowed me to use the hotel phone to call home and let everyone know we arrived safely. It doesn't get any better for location . All said, it was just what we needed.

Good value city hotel for families with older children
Chose this hotel for value and location and was very pleased with choice. Only 5 mins walk from Centraal station. You can leave your luggage in the luggage store both prior to check in time and after check out. The reception staff are very friendly, a rare breed these days! We had a quad room for two adults and two teenagers. Perfect, girls had single beds on a mezzanine floor. The staircase to the mezzanine was very steep and for that reason I wouldnt recommend this room as a family room for young children. Please check that hotel has family rooms on one level if taking children under 8 or any sleepwalkers! Breakfast is included and is great. Dutch pancakes included which were scrummy. There is a drinks vending machine in the lobby, tea is only 50 cents. There is also free use of a PC and wifi through out hotel. I would stay here again on a city break without hesitation, although please note it is 3 star and if you are looking for a little more luxury you may want to pay more and stay in a 4 star.

Long walk from hotel
Bazaar restaurant on Albert Cyp street is fantastic and good value. Soup and bread for lunch only 4.5 euros! Fussy teenagers much preferred it to Dutch food restaurants.

After reading the reviews wondered what to expect We were pleasantly surprised. The Hotel was very comfortable, warm and very well located for easy access to the centre and all amenities. Staff helpful and courteous. The breakfast was good with plenty of choice. What more could you wish for at these prices. - Well Done to 'The Avenue Hotel'.

The hotel is soooo centrally located, it was just a block from the train station, that is so convenient to go to any place you would like. If ever you decide to take a hop on hop off bus or the boat or just get your self lost in the city it is a great place to get to and back from where ever....Enjoyed it a lot hope you would too!

Perfect location, very close to the train station. Be wary of the local shops if needing to pick up any essentials... 6 euro for a toothbrush! :|

Nice, but nothing too special
We had asked for a Queen or double bed. When we arrived we were told that we had been "upgraded" to a bigger room. We had 2 twin beds shoved together, which was not comfortable at all. We did not complain, maybe we should have. The room was small, with wood beams in the ceilings. Nice atmosphere, not too noisy with the trams outside, but Trams are convenient to get about town. Bathroom was nice. and clean. The breakfast buffet was good. Nice variety, plenty of food. Made the hotel a good value, considering food prices there. Central Station very close.

Money-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
There are grocery stores nearby. Buy snacks rather than eat out all the time. Walk the "pedestrian malls" streets. nice stores. Buy an all day pass on the trams and travel around to see the city.
