Hotel Europa 92 is one of the few remaining family-run 3-star hotels in Amsterdam. An atmospheric, centrally located 'home from home', it's conveniently close to the Leidseplein, Vondelpark, Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk Museum and Van Gogh Museum. Amsterdam is a city with something to offer everyone: culture, history, an intoxicating nightlife, delicious food and fantastic shopping. Because it's so centrally located, Hotel Europa '92 is an ideal place to base you during a weekend or mid-week stay in Amsterdam. Inside, you'll find a relaxed outdoor atmosphere. Hotel's cozy bar is open every day until 1 am, and behind the hotel there's a magnificent garden. If you spend time sitting here, the hustle and bustle of the city will seem very far away. It's the perfect spot to relax after a day's ramble through the glories of Amsterdam or simply to enjoy a drink. We also serve breakfast outside in the summer. General Information: Amsterdam is sometimes justifiably referred to as one of the world's biggest 'little' cities-a place where every visitor will find something to interest them among the canals lined by magnificent merchants' houses, the bridges and the innumerable cozy bars, restaurants and narrow streets. The bustling Leidseplein with its dozens of typical Amsterdam restaurants, cafes and discos, is only a 4-minute walk away. A little further along is the Paulus Potterstraat, famous for its three world-class museums: the Rijksmuseum, Het Stedelijk Museum, and the Museum. The relaxing, delightful Vondelpark is also a mere stone's throw away. Come here to walk, sit on a park bench and people-watch, and forget you're in the middle of a city. The Max Euweplein is also worth a mention, with its attractive shops, lunchrooms, stand-up comedy venues and the Holland Casino. A 5% city tax is to be paid at the hotel.

Decent with a good bed

Overall, the hotel had some high points and low points. Some of the high points included being bumped to a double from a single, and the bed was excellent. Also, the hotel was in a good location, just a 5-6 minute tram ride from Dam Square, and closer to Leidseplein and Museumplein. Also, the tram stop was maybe 100 feet from the door of the hotel. Some of the negatives included were a slow drain in the shower, and the interior was a bit dated. Also, the stairs were very steep (although, you'd get this at any hotel in an older building in Amsterdam). And cigarette smoke wafted up from rooms below into my room, despite having the window closed.

Three-day excursion in Amsterdam

This hotel was quaint and cute, and the location is very good in my opinion. It's definitely not at the heart of the city, but Amsterdam is small enough that the city center was easily walkable (took about 10-15 minutes for a healthy male in his late 20s); there are several tram stops within walking distance of the hotel too. The back garden was fairly large and a nice place to relax with a beer from their bar. Overall though, I had to give it two-stars. This is because of several reasons: i) the WiFi (while being cheap - 1Euro for 1hour) was incredibly slow; ii) this must have been an old house, because you can hear every creak and movement from any rooms surrounding you - up, down, or to the sides - and noise from the stairwells (especially drunkards coming in at 5am) was incredibly transmittable; iii) one deskman was extremely rude, and cared more about his texting and facebooking than checking me into the hotel (although, I must say that I also encountered two very friendly deskmen aside from this guy); iv) the cleaning staff came very early in my opinion, around 8:30-9:00am every morning, and they didn't care if you yelled "No Service Please" or "Hang on", they just knocked while concomitantly unlocking your door and just barged in... I found that very rude, as one walked in on me changing clothes after just showering. I found that there are plenty of other hotels in Amsterdam while exploring the city, and I will most likely only stay here again if I can't find a better deal, mostly because of the noise and the cleaning people.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

This hotel offers you "faster and discounted" tickets to supposedly save you time to Amsterdam attractions, but I found that the hotel ticket prices were either inaccurate or purposely higher than the actual cost. For instance, my hotel would sell me a ticket to the Anne Frank Huis for 15 euros, but I found the actual ticket price at the Huis was only 8 euros.

The Simple Side of the City

A simple hotel with typically small European style rooms. Lots of stairs even after taking the 1-man elevator to the appropriate floor. A fresh coat of paint could go far but the hotel was nicely clean. The staff and resident guests were delightful and very friendly. Nice little bar in the lobby and a short walk the very popular Liedensplein Square which has every restaurant and bar imaginable. Also located very close to tram stops for easy access around the city. Lovely, restful courtyard garden.
