Grand Hotel Amrath Amsterdam

The hotel was fantastic, the service was great. Check in was a little slow as the hotel does not have a standard lobby or desks, but everyone was quick to respond and got us anything we needed. The room was a little small but was sufficient.

Fabulous hotel, competent, friendly staff. Worth it.

Hotel has nicely sized rooms and bathrooms. Best of all, free wireless internet throughout the hotel and in rooms, and free mini-bar usage including water, drinks and coffee. Hotel staff was courteous, professional, and helpful. Only negative was that I found the rooms a little dark, even with all the lights on. While I enjoy a cozy ambiance, sometimes it's nice to be able to really turn the lights up. Hotel is great for someone who wants convenient access to Centraal Station. And while the building is very old, everything inside the rooms was spanking new.

We had a great time again at the Amrath, top hotel and the location is brilliant. The mini baris stocked daily and is free. The wellness centre is great, it has a sauna, steam room, gym, jacuzzi and a pool with a swimming jet. Also available are massages and special treatments(never tried so cant comment). Will defo be staying there again. One of the best ive stayed in, in Amsterdam

The architecture is very interesting. The building was converted from offices, so each room is like a small office. Mine faced an enclosed courtyard and I heard loud flags and chains flapping all night long off the roof equipment. The housekeeping staff is clean but weird - they'd leave three shampoos and no conditioner or soap one day; the next they'd replace one towel and leave the others; they'd restock things wrong; just odd. The whole place is ghost-town quiet, which is a little unsettling. I wondered for days if I was the only guest. It's really dark inside the building. The location is middle of nowhere - long walk to almost anything except the train station. Doesn't have a warm, friendly feeling. Gym/spa area stinks of chlorine and is very small, despite glorious pictures on their website. In general service personnel in Holland are not as cheery or helpful as Americans, and the hotel is no exception. I would not stay in this hotel again, but then again, I wasn't at all impressed with Amsterdam in general so it is a moot point.

Excellent hotel, location is perfect for business.

the location was superb, i was situated convienently to get to all major locations with ease. the staff was very friendly and accommodating. the hotel and room were beautiful. Free Wifi and Minibar were an excellent comfort and made it a lot easier to just relax in the room. Finally i knew there were other people on my floor, within my corridor, but you would never know as you could not hear a sound from any one. Incredibly relaxing, i recommend for all.

The staff were very friendly from the moment we arrived and couldn't do enough for us. The room was elegant, clean and well stocked. This trip was for our 20th wedding anniversary and it lived up to our expectations and beyond!! Would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely go back again given the chance.

Initially we were given a room on street level that was very noisy. They were more than happy to move us to a better room on the 3rd floor. Housekeeping was a a bit sketchy -- one day they didn't do the room until almost 5pm.

Excellent hotel that was close to the railway. However one had to pass through the red light district as if was far from shops and restaurants. Staff were reasonably helpful and hotel was extremely comfortable.
