So it was up to me to pay 2.50€ for - old unsecure pc with internet connection to proof it. - room 055 stinks more than hostel with 5 people - cold room - heathink are to smal - mushroom culture in the shower cabine - loud toilletflushing noise in the wall - plattform look wet and dirty - 1 bed poor quality - old - tv make loud high noises - dirty bedware - 10€/day for 1 square meter of wifi access in the room Even the cheapest hostel in AMS i stayed, was million times better. About reservation, saw other travalers went crazy.. Hope never see you again!!

Cheap but...

The room is cheap but it includes NOTHING! You must pay separately for internet, breakfast, computer use, etc.. No fridge in the room. Appears to be clean but I found countless hairs from people other than myself all over the room... Icky...

It's OK, but...

Hem is an older hotel that could use some serious updating. The beds are small, the TV's are old, the elevator is ancient. On the plus side, the resaurant/lounge is like a neighborhood bar and grill. The food was really good. For the money, this is an OK, no frills place to stay. Very close to the airport as well.

Surprisingly good especially for the price

When I checked out this hotel on line I saw an equal number of good and bad reviews. I arrived with some trepidation. I was pleasantly surprised. The staff including the hotel manager were friendly and accomodating - better than some expensive places. The room was new, clean, excellent shower and food at the small food court was convenient and reasonably priced. This is not a luxury hotel but it certainly met my needs for the medical meeting. In addition, it was very convenient to public transportation including getting to the airport in 17 minutes on the metro and train. I highly recommend this hotel.

There is no reason to stay here.

At $3-500 a night this is a HORRIBLE IDEA. When we checked in they offered us a worn out room with a broken toilet filled with urine and feces. After we complained they offered us a slightly better room filled with dead bugs covering the walls and curtains. This hotel is far from everything you want to see (15 minute tram ride) and for the price FAR BELOW par. The staff is rude and yelled at my S/O for paying for water and leaving money on the pay counter instead of waiting for the counter person to come back from a smoke break. This hotel would be considered BAD at $100 a night and at the prices they want you would have to be out of your mind to stay here. My recommendation is go ANYWHERE else.

What do you expect for the price?

I attended a trade show at the RAI Center. Very convenient. Room was actually OK. The rest of the hotel and neighborhod was a bit run down. But for the price, it was what I expected. Add $15 (10 Euro) a day to the price of the room if you want wifi!

The room was pretty clean, nice

The room was pretty clean, nice and comfortable, heated 24 hours. Though there were no safe-storage and refrigerator(mini-bar). The elevator in the hotel does not work and it was said by the staff it was broken (to me it seems it's been already broken for a couple of years) The food inside the hotel's bar is very expensive, so are the drinks. The hotel is located a bit far from the city center and the distance is not walkable by foot. The hotel is connected to the city center by 5 minutes walking to the Tram no 2 or to the night bus (15-20 minutes travel) (the operator of the tram usually announce the 'HEM HOTEL STOP') (the tram stops almost in all the tourist attraction sites) If you are planning to travel by public transportation in Amsterdam I would recommend making a free pass to to the public transportation as every ride on the tram costs 2.60 euro and making a free pass would be cheaper. It was the lowest price hotel I could find at the time.
