Hem Hotel Amsterdam

The hotel´s staff was very helpful and hotel is very well located and near to the Amsterdam RAI.

When I checked out this hotel on line I saw an equal number of good and bad reviews. I arrived with some trepidation. I was pleasantly surprised. The staff including the hotel manager were friendly and accomodating - better than some expensive places. The room was new, clean, excellent shower and food at the small food court was convenient and reasonably priced. This is not a luxury hotel but it certainly met my needs for the medical meeting. In addition, it was very convenient to public transportation including getting to the airport in 17 minutes on the metro and train. I highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is not in the center of the city but it is an only about 2 blocks from the tram that takes you downtown. The hotel was nothing fancy but it seemed clean and safe and the staff was friendly. I would reccomend it to people traveling on a budget.

Hotel is good deal, if you are trying to stay el chepo. We stayed for 7 nights and the room was basic with two beds and the bathroom had a stand in shower (not the best water pressure) and was decent size. The room had no amenities besides tv....(no fridge, coffee pot, etc). Hotel grounds are very cute and there is an adorable garden and sitting areas outside. They serve food 24 hours and have a great breakfast deal, which I recommend getting. We would get fruit from the local market (oranges, bananas, etc) then buy the breakfast meal (hard boiled egg, croissant, bread, cheese, ham, orange juice) and pancakes and had a feast for two! They also have a restaurant/bar in the basement where we ate dinner one night and I was surprised how cute it was. The hotel had a lot of charm. Also the rooms were enclosed in a green house structure which I felt was an added bonus and we would eat outside in the greenhouse on the wood tables. The staff was also really friendly and were helpful with ordering shelties and cabs to the airport and central station. The hotel is also only a few blocks from Tram 2 so everything was easy to get to. There was free wifi in the hotel rooms, but no phone service. I was able to receive calls from friends who had my hotel info. There wasn't a lot of storage in the rooms, but we were able to hang up a lot of clothes and things worked out. Overall it was a quality stay for the price. It wasn't perfect, but we weren't in our rooms enough to care. We were also able to store our baggage in a room until check in at 2p CET. I also recommend you contact the hotel about arranging pick up from the airport. We paid 50 euro the first time when we took a cab from the air port and only 28 euro when we took a cab from the airport to shuttle.

The hem is about a 15 min. cab ride from amsterdam central. Be careful when takeing cabs they will try to over charge you. 15-20 euros is good.Aside from being a little away from the entertainment center, this is a great hotel, for the price.Tell the hotels barmaid [...], David says hello.

I stayed there for two days and I found it calm, clean and comfortable. It is a little bit far from the centre of the city but there are good tram connections and that was not a problem at all.

Het personeel is niet altijd even vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Hotel is ook erg duur, vergeleken met de kwaliteit is het geen goede verhouding. In de hotelkamer waren er lampen kapot, en een douche die lekte, een kapotte wc en er was geen slot meer op de deur van de badkamer. Het personeel is ook niet altijd vriendelijk. Er was in het hotel een kleine bar waar frisdrank te kopen was, en er was een restaurant gedeelte. Wij hadden bij de bar een flesje fris voor 3 euro gekocht en namen het mee naar een pooltafel bij het restaurant. Vervolgens gingen we poolen en sprak het personeel ons aan dat we niet het fles mee mochten nemen naar het restaurant, terwijl we het flesje nog niet eens hadden geopend.

Located just outside from the center. The staff is not very friendly. Our heater did not work, we got a portable heater. It is ok to sleep, not more ! Better a hotel in the center. Das Hotel liegt etwas auserhalb des Zentrum. Das Personal ist nicht sehr freundlich. Unsere Heizung hat nicht funktioniert, wir bekamen einen mobilen Heizer. Zum schlafen ist es ok, mehr nicht ! Besser ist ein Hotel im Zentrum
