Mercure Hotel Amsterdam Airport

My situation was a little bit different because from what I saw, people seem to love this place to rest up on a layover at Schipol. My wife and I, on the other hand, decided to stay here after a cruise and our flight out was the next afternoon and we had a terrible time finding the place. We were coming in from doing a little sightseeing and thought we could find it pretty easily from the metro station (which is listed on the hotel's website), but it's about a half hour walk away and we couldn't figure out how to walk there because we didn't see any sidewalks or walking paths going in the right direction. It turns out you have to take the buses (#195 or 197 I think it was), which are listed on their website, but it's not made clear that you have to do a ton of walking if you use any other form of transportation. If you're coming in from the city, I'd say find a hotel in the city because you can find other buses that will take you to the airport fairly easily. Additionally, this hotel is a little ways out from the city itself so if you want to get out and find dinner and such, this is not such a great place to be. As far as amenities went, I loved the free wifi there - it was free of course, and the speed was better than other free wifi I found at other hotels. However, they wanted to charge us a 9.95 euro fee to use the tv at all; we didn't even get basic tv channels. You have to pay the 10 euro to get a buncha stuff or you get nothing at all. Never seen that before, so if you don't want to pay for entertainment, bring stuff on your computer or tablet, phone, etc. But to top it off, the tv kept turning on and encouraging us to pay the 10 euro for their media package. It didn't really bother me too much, it just seems a little...I don't know. Cheeky maybe? Other than that, it was a nice place to rest. We both got a great night's sleep and the shuttle got us to the airport in about 10 minutes. Very convenient. (Though be warned...the shuttle driver we had drove a little aggressively and scared another lady in the car with us.)

Clean, comfortable, quick transfer from airport. Unfortunately, return transfer began at 6:00 am so we had to use a taxi for our early flight.

This was my final night prior to flying home. The amenities were basic. The restaurant menu contained just a few basic items. Location is outside the expressways to Schiphol Airport--difficult to find--poor signage. The staff were the bright spot--very helpful and supportive. I would not stay here again.

The Mercure Airport Hotel was great. One suggestion: I may have missed it, but I did not see a Hotel Shuttle bus listed in the information about the hotel. We spent $33 on a cab to the hotel; took the bus back. Very nice stay, though. Great if you have a long layover at Schipol Airport.

Just minutes from the airport. Regular complimentary shuttle service from and to the airport. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are clean and surprisingly quiet. Great breakfast buffet style.

Have a wonderful time and will go back in a few year god willing. Hotel was great and people very very nice excellent.

my stay was very short-just long enough to eat,sleep,and catch an early flight home. you would not want to stay if you were touring the city, it's much too far from town. it is located off the highway with nothing near it to do.

The hotel was very adequate. There was a gas station/party store next door available for food to go.

We chose the hotel because we had a late flight into the airport. We were booked into another hotel in the city for the majority of our stay. The Mercure was clean, quiet and comfortable. The breakfast was varied and well presented. This is a quality establishment with a simple and effective approach to guest comfort.
