Great for river cruise

Booked because of train station and Viking river cruise. Great location for both. Seemed a little pricey but the river view was awesome

Great hotel - shame about the location

Excellent service just that for me a bit of a walk to get there as only one stop on the tram so caught between waiting for transport or walking

good location if you are taking a cruise

WE arrived around 6:30 on the night before our cruise. Very tired from travelling all day, and I had requested, and got confirmation and directions, to where the shuttle would pick us up at the train station. After waiting for at least 10 minutes after the designated time, we decided to walk to the hotel, with our 2 suitcases each, and dodging cyclists the whole way. When we arrived at the hotel 20 minutes later, very hot and tired, I mentioned at the check-in counter, that I was not pleased. She called the concierge over, who told me " you were lucky you only waited 10 min. One couple waited half an hour" and also "if you hadn't been dropped off there, you never would have found the location"!!!!! Not an apology offered, and no explanation given as to why they even bothered to send us directions if they had no intention of picking us up. We were not pleased!!!!

Pretty good, but...

We stayed over the Thanksgiving holiday in this newer hotel in Amsterdam. The "city centre" portion of the name may be a bit misleading, as it is slightly off the path of downtown. But, you get a pretty decent view from the higher floors. 5-10 min walk to Central Station or you can wait for the tram across the street; dress warmly for either due to the location of the hotel on the water. Staff was very considerate, hotel bar/restaurant solid. Beds may not be comfortable for the American traveler as the king was two single (and firm!) beds pushed together. Overall: mostly good experience, but be aware of the location.

Enjoyed our one night stay. Room is spacious and and modern. Would stay here again. It is a little cumbersome to get to and from major sights, however.

Best Hotel Experience to Date

I spent 6 nights the Moevenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre, and I must admit that this has been the best hotel experience I have ever had. Upon arrival (mind you, it was quite windy and raining outside and I am a young female that travels alone often (including this trip)), the concierge immediately took my bags from me and put them aside. Guest services were extremely friendly and accomodating as well - they even put me on the 18th floor! My room was extremely clean and had a fantastic view of a canal and the Centraal Station. The first night I was there, I had a fever and fell very ill. I had called room service and they immediately came and brought me aspirin and some orange juice to help. The next day they called and had a doctor come to see me - which was on Christmas, so I was very thankful for the staff and the doctor for them to come. The hotel is located a bit away from the city centre, but is only 1 tram stop away, so this is really great. I especially liked it because I was not looking to stay in the middle of the city, but rather close in a more peaceful area. This was perfect. Also, there is a shuttle service every 30 minutes taking guests Centraal Station. Every day, the hotel room was impeccably clean. I had to also have room service food items and the meals were quite good. I ate one day at the in-hotel restaurant on the second floor, and the chef had even custom made a soup for me due to my dietary requirements. This was the best hotel I have stayed at in Europe, and the best hotel experience I have had to date. Overall, I was very happy, would definitely stay at this hotel again, and would definitely recommend it to friends, colleagues, and anyone who reads this review. Definitely worth the value!
