Wonderful customer service and perfect location

We arrived at the hotel at 0900 after a two week river cruise. Even though check in time wasn't until 2pm they had rooms ready for us. We stayed in a King deluxe and it was large and clean. There was even a full size bathtub. The tub was slick with no vinyl mat to place in it but we used a bath towel on the bottom of the tub and that took care of that. The room was warm and the window was locked but a call to the desk had someone up right away to unlock it. The bar is a great place to wind down for a drink or a quick bite. Every one we came in contact with from the maid to the front desk were helpful and friendly. The location is perfect being just steps from Dom Square and Magna Plaza shopping area. We walked to most locations and took the bus right outside the front door to the farther museums. We will definitely stay there again should we return to Amsterdam.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Across the street and to the left is the Die Port Van Cleeve hotel that has a restaurant known for it's numbered steaks. For around 29 euros we each had a steak with salad, roll, fries and vegetables. The chef even threw in an appetizer. The steaks were perfect and the atmosphere relaxing.

Quiet and convenient

The hotel's design and furnishing is perhaps a bit old-fashioned, but somewhat charming. The check-in clerk was very helpful and ready to offer information about the city and its sights. The hot breakfast buffet was outstanding, and the location superb for hopping on any of five tram lines to go to Central Station, or south toward the Van Gogh Museum. Would certainly stay here again.

Get the "I Amsterdam" card. It was the best deal for traveling on Trams and buses. Nice discounts at most museums.

Great for mature adults

Great location: near Dam Square, Central Station, Red Light District - trolley's outside front door. Comfortable, old world feel. Room was fine. Nice restaurant, bar and lobby area. Liked its moderate size as opposed to huge or very small hotel.

Nice and central hotel in Amsterdam

I stayed only one night to visit Amsterdam before a meeting in Leiden. The hotel was nice and clean, very central, less than 10 minutes walking from Central Station and perfect to visit the downtown and go shopping in the area. The staff was nice and helpful; maybe it could have been better without that music in the corridors until night.

Essentially, the place you want to be.

The wife and I stayed here for 3 days after a biz trip of mine in Rotterdam. An 8 min. walk from the madness that is the Amsterdam epicenter, the Convent affords you the quiet late night bars and coffee shops (NOT coffeehouses, lol)to wind down. Great little breakfast place next door, btw, called "bon appetit" or something. Staff is great, room was lovely. I'm 42, married, kids(with the in-laws this trip), and have been travelling on business and pleasure for about 25 years. And over that time, I've gotten a bit uptight about hotels. The Convent is essentially where you want to be while in Amsterdam.

Magnificent memories of The Mint

We had a great room on a high floor with an incredible view. Our room was clean, comfortable and well stocked. The location was perfect for getting to any destination. This was our third trip to London and by far the best.

Convent Hotel, Amsterdam

This hotel was very modern, clean, and convenient. It is an easy 3 blocks walk from the central train station, and sits in a very nice and safe neighborhood right in the middle of the city. Most of the sights and culture one would want to see are a short walk from the hotel, and a tram runs past for trips farther from the city center. The windows have double glass to reduce sound, and the rooms are air conditioned. I found it to be extremely luxurious and modern on the inside, and beautifully historic on the outside! Like most European hotels, it would not meet American ADA standards, but that wasn't an issue for me.
