Excellent!
I stayed in the SKYCITY Grand Hotel Auckland as a conference venue for six days in a luxury king room with Skycity view and my experience was excellent: the room corresponded to the description on the website; hotel staff is helpful and friendly, which is in general characteristic to New Zealand. Excellent sauna and a long swimming pool (open from 6 am to 10 pm). Although the width of the pool is enough for two people at a time to do the laps, there usually were not too many users; and no kids. There is instant coffee and a selection of teas in the room. There is a small fridge but it is almost completely staffed with the bar items. Hi-speed WiFi free internet (a value of $15) was included in the rate and work very well. Located right next to the Skycity tower, a couple of blocks uphill from the Queen Street and the Airbus stop (in case you choose to get there by airbus from the airport). I would stay there again.

FANTASTIC HOLIDAY
The Hotel was absolutely wonderful for location, the room was lovely and very comfortable. Plus, across the street was the Casino that you could walk to on a 'cross-over' that was covered in case it was raining. The restaurant in the Hotel WAS TOPS. Staying here actually made everything better because we could walk everywhere OR if we needed to catch the bus, it was only a few steps to catch one. Plus the water was only a 5 minute walk from the hotel.

Good times!
We really enjoyed Sky City Grand -- we were really glad we were in the Grand side because it was much quieter in the lobby, etc. than the Sky City side. Our room was nice -- every amenity was provided-- except internet! We were supposed to get a half hour free each day, but were never able to get online. The message kept telling us we had already used our allotted time. Bummer. We were able to go to a local McCafe for internet with breakfast. Other than that, no complaints. We would definitely stay here again.

SkyCity Grand was a very nice hotel. You can't beat the location or the staff. It is pretty much walking distance from anything you would want to do. It is located in the heart of Auckland so there is something for everybody. The hotel itself has many different restaurants and lounges but it is much more expensive then venturing off the property. Not only will you find better places to eat you will save a few dollars as well. Overall I would recommend SkyCity compared to the other hotels we saw in the city.

Great stay- service was excellent

This is a great hotel. I have been to better 5 star hotels in Auckland with bigger pools and jaccuzzis, but this one was clean. Great location!

Very Elegant Stay
We toured the Auckland area. Greeted personally by top hatted doorman that added class to the place. Stayed on the 9th floor and the room was very accomodating and clean (carpet needed cleaning) but other than that very elegant. All the personel greeted us coming and going. Had a chance to visit the casino. This casino sure needs some work( inside looks somewhat dark and not too clean appearing. Needs dice tables. Black jack tables were very much in favor of the house as they replaced discards of played cards immediately back into the constant shuffler. Also restrictive in that you could only double down only on 10's and 11's. All cards were dealt up...not very fair odds for players...also not being able to tipping the dealers was rather strange... Poker room was very small and dingy I had read in a previous reviews that it was noisy and the crowded outside area kept some folks awake...did not find that to be true or a problem...really enjoyed our stay...Super value for our dollar!!!
