Quietest hotel ever!
We arrived on Saturday midnight when a party was in full swing, and could be heard in the stairwells and corridor. However, not a peep was heard in the room. The other guests were either all amazingly quiet and considerate of others (not talking in the corridor / flushing loos late etc.) we were also unable to hear them from our room. Beds were comfy and duvets hot - I would have liked a sheet and blanket being a hot sleeper. The only thing that made a noise was the air con which we could not turn completely off, although it didn't seem to run in the middle of the night anyway - 1-7am? Breakfasts were fantastic. Only small thing as Brits we would have liked some hot milk to go with the strong coffee. The hotel is lovely and central and near 2 tram stops (didn't get used to bus routes). Get an Oslo Pass! We saved hundreds of kroners on the 72 hour pass!!!

Oslo sweater shop beats other prices, which are then matched by other outlets. Also Oslo pass for sightseeing and transport.

Extremely nice for the price
Oslo is extraordinarily expensive. This hotel is not. Because of that, I was expecting this hotel to be middle of the road. It is, in fact, really nice. My room was small but very comfortable. The bathroom was nice as well - only complaint is the fluorescent lighting in the bathroom makes it look cheap. It was very quiet - I was never woken up by another guest, housekeepers in the hallway, etc. The complimentary breakfast buffet is really good as well - lots of fresh foods to choose from.

A Norwegian jewel
After an exhausting overnight flight, the friendly staff checked us in right away. Following a short rest, we went to the Winter Haven restaurant and lingered over a wonderful meal. The decor is old-world and delights the senses with its opulence. Glass food cases are lit and display a veritable smorgasbord of choices. The atmosphere is further enhanced with live piano music. The staff was thoroughly professional and helpful. The manager even found us a rental car on a day when all offices were closed. I highly recommend this hotel.

Make the Winter Haven your first stop and savor the elegant decor, bountiful and delicious food, and perfect coffee. The hot chocolate is also famous. It is the ideal place to recharge and simply enjoy the moment!

Great location, beautiful decor
This is a beautiful old hotel in a perfect location for walking & sightseeing! Just a block or so off the main thoroughfare, it's both convenient and quiet. The rooms were exceptionally clean, and the staff was enormously helpful and friendly. My only minor complaints are: a touch sensitive mini-bar that prevents using it as a little fridge, making some of the rooms radio stations "pay" stations, a terribly soft, worn out bed, and an useless so-called "gym". And the use of low-voltage bulbs left the room horribly dark, making it hard to read, or fill out forms, for instance. If they addressed even some of these issues, I'd recommend this hotel enthusiastically.

Good central location
Great location within walking distance of museums and castle. Also a short 5-10 min. walk to the National Theatre train station which has express service to the airport frequently.

Classic, well located hotel
Staff went out of their way to be helpful. Central location enabled us to make best use of our time as tourists. Ambiance was pleasant and classy.
