Perfect location!
Right in the heart of the city with excellent views. Metro and train stations right there. Staff was friendly and helpful. Only things you could ask for are free wifi and ice machines.

Really a convenient location
The hotel is in the middle of everything: shops, restaurants, museums, the central rail road station, etc. so it is perfect for business. On the other hand, the internet connection was not as fast as expected and the lack of a wireless connection limited my workspace to the chair and small desk in the room, it is also amazing that no scanner is available in the hotel. The staff was really helpfull and kind.

Hostile but nice hotel
Early morning arrivals should avoid this hotel. I arrived at 8 am on an overnight train, and they would not let me into a room until check-in at 2 pm, forcing me to sleep on a couch in the lobby until 2 pm exactly. I think the staff took some sadistic pleasure in my misery, which made things worse. The price on [...], btw, was substantially less than the price quoted to me as a walk-in, so book online. Rooms are quite comfortable and nice, with large windows and good views of Warsaw. The building, elevators, furnishings, plumbing and everything else are 21st century hotel standard; this is not a cold war relic. Laundry is a problem here - the hotel laundry rates are somewhere between exhorbitant and breathtaking, and I did not find a laundromat in town. As to location, the hotel is kittycorner to the Soviet-gothic Palace of Culture, which is interesting in its rehabilitation as a capitalist building, including a large cinema showing all sorts of movies in original language with Polish subtitles. In fact, if you are in need of a cinema break, there are several movie theaters near this hotel, and you probably can see any first run American flick you want. The area around the hotel was under construction, and was not too charming. You can walk to the Nowy Swiat street, or get a tram (all day ticket available at newspaper stands is 9 zlots), and at the upper end of that street is the Stare Miasto (old town). It isn't actually close to the hotel, but a pleasant long walk. The location of the hotel is mainly good because it's about a quarter mile from Warsaw Centralny train station, although the walk there is not altogether easy because there are a number of stair riddled underground passages to go through. If you have tons of bags, take a bus from the train station with a 24 hour pass for 9 zlots. Or take a taxi - see my warning below about taxis!

Watch it in taxis in Warsaw. The drivers seem to all be crooks. If they hear a foreign accent, they will tell you the fare will be some crazy amount. The amount will probably be about FOUR times the correct amount. In summer 2010, the proper cost of a taxi from the Old Town to the Novotel hotel was about 10 to 15 zlots, as an example; to the train station, maybe 5 or 10. If they don't cut the fare down to the correct level, then tell them you will pay the meter, and hope they take you in a straight line! And generally, if you feel you are being jerked around, curse them out in English and get out of the cab. I seem to always get burned by the taxis in Warsaw, even tho I sort of speak Polish; I hope it doesn't happen to you, but don't be too upset if it does.

Disappointing for the Price
It's in the city center so some noise is expected. That didn't bother me but be foreword if you're a light sleeper. I had two different rooms and both were a disappointment. It's worth noting I booked the room late, and paid full fare (actually over, according to the back of the door.) My initial room was small, by American standards but typical for Europe. The property is definitely showing it's age, the TV and furniture all looked like they'd been purchased in the 80s and needed replaced. The décor overall was dimly lit and shabby. Having just gotten off the plane I took a shower took a shower after checking in and noticed soap residue and hair that obviously wasn't mine. When I got out of the shower I noticed the toilet hadn't been cleaned either. I hadn't been happy with the room initially but a dirty room was obviously unacceptable. I explained my situation at the front desk and waited to speak with the manager, and waited, and waited, the desk attendant was very polite and obviously uncomfortable so I left a detailed message of my complaint and went to dinner. When I came back they offered to move me to another room. There was no apology or any kind for either the dirty room or the delay. The new room was just as dark, and shabby and although cleaner then the other not by any means spotless. I finished out the night but moved down the street to the Marriott the next day. The room was 10% cheaper and 100% nicer. I would compare the room to that of a one or two star hotel. They may have other amenities to justify calling themselves more for then that but I wouldn't agree. I'm certain I was put in the standard room at the higher rate the deception bothered me but even at the standard rate I wouldn't have stayed. Their proximity to the Marriott was wonderful though!

Excellent, but I am still there.
Good hotel in great location in the very center of the city. Breakfast prices a little bit too stiff for my taste and pocket.
