Estalagem Muchaxo Hotel is situated in Guincho beach, Cascais, close to the westernmost point in continental Europe (Cape Roca). Defying waves and winds of the Atlantic Ocean, Estalagem do Muchaxo occupies a 17th century fortress, with more than 60 years of history. Rooms of Estalagem Muchaxo Hotel are divided in two wings: The Fortress Wing, recently furnished and decorated (2011)in soft tones, pastels colors and a cosy wood flooring, creating a relaxing atmosphere. and The East Wing, where rooms feature a more informal decoration, providing a fresh atmosphere and extensive views of Guincho Beach, the Serra de Sintra and Cabo da Roca. Facilities: sea water pool on a cliff, 2 restaurants, bar, snack-bar, swimming pool bar, Internet Pc's, Sauna, Squash court and parking.

This hotel is in a prime location,

This hotel is in a prime location, right on the beach with a great surfing school off the back of the building, but that's about the only thing it has going for it. The service at the hotel is remarkably slow, the staff slightly surly. The whole place is really kooky, with random knick knacks all over and our room looked like it was a hallway that had been turned into a hotel room (stragest shaped room I've ever stayed in). Our room smelled terrible, and the sink took about 15 min to drain whenever you filled it. We only stayed one night so it was fine for our purposes, but this is a good example of that old adage that you only get what you pay for!
