This hotel is perfect for those that wish to stay in the city centre. There are many good restaurants close to the hotel with appetising local dishes such as Tuna Stake biff or "Espetada" which is a typical Madeiran grilled meat on a skewer. There are also loads of good shops close by. (DDS 06/08) This is a modern style building. This hotel is centrally located behind the Munipal Gardens, just 300 metres from Funchal's Marina. Twenty five metres away you can find the Municipal Theatre: the "Teatro Balthazar Dias", where many orchestra concerts and classical music recitals are held. The Santa Catarina park is also just around the corner.

Very good hotel

I really liked the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the hotel was spotlessly clean. My room, which was very comfortable, had a balcony with sliding shutters and a beautiful view of the park. The breakfast buffet was tasty. In addition to the quality of the hotel, the location in downtown Funchal was excellent. One could walk everywhere in the downtown area easily. There was easy access to most attractions such as museums, the old city, the market, the marina, and the cable car to Monte. There was also a nice view from the 5th floor where the swimming pool is located. I can't comment on the pool since I did not use it. It is a great hotel for people who want to be downtown rather than in the newer hotel area further away. Should I go back to Funchal, I would certainly stay there in the hotel again.
