Mercure Lisboa

I chose this hotel because I thought it would be nicer than a budget hotel, like Ibis. However, there was not much difference. The best feature was that the Internet was included. When I entered the room: (1) long diagonal crack on the window, (2) desk chair with wobbly leg that seemed ready to collapse, (3) weak air conditioning. The reported the first two because I didn't want to be blamed for damage. I reported the air conditioning problem. On full blast, virtually no air came out of the vent and the air was just above room temperature. The desk clerk said he would have it repaired (he did not want to change our rooms even though the hotel did not seem very busy). The next day I asked the same desk clerk who did not report the problem. He came to my room, put his hand next to the vent and said that my air conditioning was normal. He said the hotel had weak air conditioning. They have a minibar policy that guests should be cautioned about. You can only get coffee if you go into the restaurant. Bed was worn and needed to be replaced. This hotel is not close to the airport and not close to city center. Poor location.

Normal friendly service based business hotel

Very good staff, speak good English. Very helpful in every manor, especially the Manager. Have 2 computers in lobby that have internet with 20 minute timer. If you have laptop ask for 7 day free internet. Restaurant was a bit expensive & we ate elsewhere around the hotel, Great cafes very close by. Underground parking was very tight but 6 Euros a night was not too bad. They never could get our room phone to work for local calls, had to patch us through every time. [...]

An excellent hotel, however if you stay on a warm, sunny day after the airconditioning has been switched off in the late autumn ask for a room at the front of the hotel.
