I stay in hotel Azores this year (2009) in April, and i loved the hotel. Very near the center of Ponta Delgada (10 minutes of "Marginal"), good service, breakfast very good. I recomend the hotel.

not what I was expecting

one thing that you must remember when booking a hotel in europe is that the star system is very different from north american standard. I cannot say any thing bad about this hotel because I should have known better.The location is not bad , very easy walk to the center of town and very close to the big mall. The staff was super friendly and very helpfull. The room,furniture,bathroom,and television is all very old not the type of room one from north america would feel very comfortable in.I would not recommend this room to canadians or americans even though it was very clean and the people were great. We ended canceling our reservation and moved to another hotel.besides the hotel issue the holiday was wonderful.This is a very beautiful pristine place that must be seen. If you are a nature lover this is the place.Go before it gets spoiled by the big cruise ships and hordes of tourists.

Hotel do Colégio, located in the centre of Ponta Delgada, on São Miguel Island, emerged from the adaptation of a XIX century urban edifice. In its history this building was a respected school, and, most recently, served as a musical academy.
This building is classified as architecturally and culturally valuable due to its architecture and the design of its details strongly influenced by the typical masonry and local basalt work, prevalent in the ornamentation of the main doors, the windows, the staircase, the arches and the stone slab flooring.
With its history and its cultural tradition intact, this hotel has been divided into two wings: the Conservatório and the Colégio, each in keeping with its past.
