I stayed at the Oryx Ratana as I had a 12 hour gap before my connecting flight to Indonesia. It was one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed in. Excellent service, beautiful room and a friendly/professional welcome. I was travelling on my own but it was all very straightforward. Go to the hotel desk in Doha departure lounge (on the right next to all the other hotels) and someone will tell you where to wait for the free shuttle bus to the hotel. The hotel also sorted a free shuttle bus for me in the morning. It is pricey but worth it if you need a bit of pampering after/before a long haul flight.

This is the best hotel I've stayed, anywhere. Relaxed atmosphere and very friendly managers and hotel personnel. Hotel restaurants include Greek, Italian, TexMex, Fish Market and great buffet all day. Friday brunch is the best with lobster, shrimp, mussels, salmon, suishi, and pasta with sauce prepared as you ask,just to name a few choices. And all the sparkling chardonnay you can consume for one price. The pool is outstanding with a pool bar and the Gulf is just a few paces away if you like the taste of salt. A great place to stay for business but an even greater place to bring you family for vacation.

The hotel is a little less formal than other Doha hotels which I really enjoyed. The pool and beach area are top notch. The TexMex bar is like a down home bar where many of the same people are present each evening. A new nightclub has recently opened with a DJ or live entertainment with dancing. There is no need to leave the hotel. It has everything: great restaurants, nice bars and entertainment, super pool and beach area. And the staff is very friendly, always smiling, polite and very responsive.

Located on west bay area, it has nice pool on 26th floor. Not a tourist hotel!!, no liquor license (can go across road to 4 seasons), and no tourist info on display, must ask concierge for all. No normal taxis at hotel, only limo cars at twice the cost of taxi, but still reasonable price.

....bien sous tout rapport....le quartier est limite d'une zone peu touristique mais tres pres du souk ,l'endroit le plus frequenté de doha.Bien équipé flambant neuf ,chambre confortable , le meilleur rapport qualité prix de notre séjour chez les émirs

Good shower room in the pool area:

After my e mail correspondence with the reservation department, we were fully aware that all the twin rooms were at the back of the house with small windows.
The only problem we had was, that most of the twin rooms were very noisy! All the machinery, air cooling systems and etc are at the back of the building so there is constant 24/7 buzzing noise in the room. Rooms on higher floors are the worst affected by noise.
I have sent a few e-mails to the reservations department asking for a non smoking quite room and also mentioned that we will be arriving around midnight. When we arrived the reception said that we are checking in late so all the rooms are occupied! She said that she wasn’t aware of our request and there were no remarks from the reservation department. She said there are only two vacant smoking rooms to choose from, one was 1101 and the other one was on the 9th floor a tiny box room. Of course we chose 1101 which was a bit bigger but unaware about the noise and all the machineries outside our window! We didn’t sleep at all.
We were very disappointed that receptionist knew, room 1101 will be very noisy she just tried it on us to give us that room! She was the one, who moved us on the next morning to room 810, which she apologized for the noise!
On the following morning called the reception at 06:30am asked for a room move then we were moved to room 810 which was better than 1101 but still noisy.
The reception manger was very nice, kind and helpful he gave us 06:00pm complementary check out on day of departure to compensate the first night, which we didn’t sleep at all.
All the twin rooms are very small like a box! Might be ok for one person for one or two nights stay, but we were staying for 10 nights! The corner rooms with number 10s are a bit larger but the main problem was in the shower room! There was no screen to separate the shower from the rest of the bathroom it was practically a wet room. One of us tried to have a shower on the first day, which was a disaster the whole bathroom floor was wet! Water everywhere underneath the toilet underneath the washbasin! That was our first and last shower in the room, the remaining 9 days we had our shower using the swimming pool shower room. Which wasn’t an ideal situation, but we had to live with it. There was no other solution. We didn’t want to take the queen bed room at the front because one of us had to sleep on the sofa bed for 10 nights! It wasn’t an option for us.
I will only recommend this hotel if someone is staying in a queen bed room at the front of the building.
