Great location very close to Red Square. Breakfast buffett was included in my room rate and this was fabulous! Staff was very attentive and room was clean. The only thing is I wish there was free wireless internet in the room itself. Since this is standard in most hotels these days, they should really consider this. Otherwise, this was a good hotel that I would recommend.

hotel is 15 minutes walk from the red square. Everything is expensive hard to travel people can't speak english. Signs are all in Russian. Not an expert traveller, don't go to russia. hotel and staff is good.

Constructed by the famed Russian architect Alexander Ivanov, a member of The Emperor Academy of Arts, Hotel National welcomed its first guests in 1903. Built in the Moscow Modern style, the hotel displayed Ivanov’s penchant for “classicized” eclecticism, which combined varied ornamented décor motifs from late classicism. Prior to the revolution, this ornate style drew foreign diplomats, politicians, royals, business tycoons, and famous performers, including the Russian composer Nikolai Andreyevich Rimsky-Korsakov, the great ballerina Anna Pavlova, renowned English author Herbert Wells, and many others. After 1917, Hotel National was proclaimed the First House of the Soviets and became a residence of the Bolshevik government, accommodating top communist leaders including Vladimir Lenin.
From 1931 to 1932, the hotel underwent extensive renovations, including refurbishment of the building's main facades, renewal of its interiors, and more. Additionally, the hotel’s elegant furnishings—taken from former estates and palaces—were supplemented with artifacts from Russian tsar palaces and aristocratic estates. As a result, the hotel took on a museum-like quality, with singular furniture, exceptional paintings, and exclusive objets d'art, which remain in the premises today.
During World War II, Hotel National served as a centre for the anti-fascist coalition and a large number of government delegations stayed there. This role continued throughout the 20th century, as it hosted a league of distinguished guests.
In 1991 Hotel National began its most recent renovation and reconstruction, which ended on May 9, 1995 (Victory Day), when the hotel reopened its doors. This same year, The Russian Federation Chamber of Commerce and Industry officially bestowed the hotel with a top five-star rating. In 1997, Hotel National joined Le Méridien, establishing itself as Le Royal Méridien National., For non-US hotels, rates confirmed in USD may be converted to local currency by the hotel at your time of stay, based on the exchange rate used by the hotel.

I participated at the International Real Estate Exhibition, which was located at the Gostiniy Dvor, near the Red Square. I walked 10 minute from the Hotel and avoid all Moscow traffic.
Also shopping, dinning, nightlife, entertainment are in a walking distance.

Location cannot be beat. Splurge for a room with a view. Rooms elegant and well appointed. Rates much more reasonable on weekends. Front desk staff was very helpful. Concierge service was good but would not rate as great - perhaps adequate is a good word. Gym on roof is adequate but could use a makeover. Would definitely stay here again!

Stayed NY holidays. Great hotel, great service. However, to book the health Spa was €100 per hour and no swimming pool in hotel or neighbouring hotels as advertised. But overall, a relaxing, pleasent and value for money location!

Great value for the price

This time we went on a tourist- business 5-day trip. We purchased a flight-hotel combo and got a $200 daily deal at this new and comfortable hotel. A great rate for Moscow in a new business hotel. There is a 20-minute brisk walk to the metro. On the other side there are no taxis waiting outside the hotel (you have to order one - approx 10-15 minute waiting) plus in Moscow traffic taxi may take 4-5 times longer then metro. Hotel shuttle to metro goes only a few times a day. Otherwise, the hotel was clean, room service fast (tried only burgers and club sandwich - very tasty). Standard room was a bit smaller then usual, but still comfortable for two people. For some reason there was no mini bar in this room - it's worth checking for those who use it. There is a supermarket around the corner. Concierge does not come to work on time in the morning but the rest of the staff tried to find a sightseeing information the best they could. When metro distance is not an issue, definitely recommended. For your comfort, cleanliness or any room issue, Renaissance by Marriot is always a safe heaven.

The hotel was clean and functional - good rooms, good restaraunt and can easily walk to SVO in five minutes. Check-in was friendly, and quick. They even gave me a cover for my passport and made me feel happy to be there. THe room furniture was not real comfortable but the bed was. Would stay there again.

Though located in the suburb, the travelling time from Moscow center is only 1/2 hour and it's reflected from the price tag. Quite a lot of foreigner lived in but no night lives around here (which is good for family indeed). Security is quite good and some cheap dining is around. The free wifi in our floor area (not advertised) is definitely a plus. I will rate a 75/100 to this 3-star hotel.

Good location; the most impressive and extensive buffet breakfast I've ever had; dinner options are somewhat overpriced; wine items in the bar are significantly overpriced (paid almost $25 for a galss of Chianti); great saunas: swimming pool is large but very shallow (designed for children?); very safe and secure hotel; free wi-fi internet; very courteous and helpful staff; air conditioning is not that great. Overall, I would stay at this hotel again but would consider outside places for dining.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and quiet. Good location off a main street and within walking distance of many restaurants. Beware of expensive breakfast buffett. It is good if you expect caviar, etc. for breakfast and you will pay for it ($50 USD). My tastes are simpler and my budget smaller so I headed across the street to Starbucks for my morning caffeine and snack to start my day for a small fraction of the cost. Room was clean and bed was comfortable but I wish the shower pressure was stronger.

Great location,close to the Metro and bus no. 12 that goes along Tverskaya ul. to the Kremlin,Red sq., main theaters.
The room was big, clean, with a coffee maker.
Breakfast was very expensive so we went out for breakfast (there are a lot of cafe's on the main street, including Starbacs and a supermarket across the street).

Wonderful location ........ literally right on top of the metro gray line and just a block or so from the entrance to the brown line. The room was huge and had a fridge. There is a market just a block away. Staff was very efficient and helpful when asked questions. Spoke English well. We felt very safe (mom & daughter) and the room was always clean. Very comfortable. The website described Novotel as catering to Business travelers, so it was mostly men. We felt a little odd at times as it looked like we were the only women! We did see a few others eventually. It was extremely quiet, and clean. Highly recommend unless you want "family" atmosphere.

Hotel is nice with excellent amenities (swimming pool, sauna, several on-site restaurants, free Wi-Fi, free parking). Restaurants and in-room services are good but overpriced (cup of double espresso - $10, pot of tea - $12, breakfast buffet - $45). Location is good for meetings at the world trade center but otherwise it is remote from any metro station or tourist destinaton. Taxi is expensive.

generally everything was very good, though when you offer hotel in such a standard, breakfast and internet should already be included in price. rooms were clean and very comfortable, the hotel location is just excellent.can not complaign.

Myself with 5 friends are studying in Russia and took a weekend trip to Moscow. We only stayed in Holiday inn for one night. They were very kind people that helped us with any question that we had. They spoke very good English. They even helped us out with things that they didn't have to such as: upgrading our room and holding our bags for us even after we had checked out. The location is not to far from the Metro which is great. It was a nice stay and I would recommend it to any international travelers.

I stayed at this hotel 2x (16 days)over the past 2 months. Didn't get the points 2nd time because I booked through 3rd party website. That was a hassle to get incidental points. Staff was nice & spoke English. Bar is overpriced (as all hotels in Moscow). Hotel Food was terrible, but good restaurants nearby (The Patio serves Italian/Japanese cuisine) and Krushka Bar is close and fun with cheap drinks. Metro is 5 minute walk. Hotel was clean & good rate. Internet speed was good in room, but slow in lobby-no wireless in rooms. Nearby convenience store stays open late. Disappointed that they state on the wall that they have Executive Lounge, but one doesn't exist here. Overall pretty good--no major problems. You get a pretty good experience for what you pay for--just eat out. I would stay here again. TV sucked--slow to change channels & limited channels. 3 of us stayed in 3 rooms and none could even get CNN.. You shouldn't stay in hotel watching TV when in Moscow anyway, so it didn't bother me much. 1/4/2011

My visit to Moscow was part of a group tour arrenged through my Alma Mater. I booked a pre-tour one-day stay at the Marriot. My day xonsisted of walking around the Red Square, Pushkin Museum, the subway...

- Great location!!
- Great staff, especially the concierges...
- The hotel gym is small yet well equipped and it is open and staffed 24/7. The swimming pool is lovely.
- Charges too much $$ for Internet in the room. At the room rate, Wi-Fi access should be free.

Its an incredible hotel, great location, Beautifull and big rooms with large luxurious bathrooms, nice service. What I was disapointed about where the overpriced items in the mini bar (10 dlls for a Coke), The overpriced food in the restaurants, a sandwich for 30 dlls, and the expensive internet service in the room and in the hotel in general, to mention a few!

Swissotel in Moscow was one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. The view from the room is very beautiful. Beds were very comfortable. I liked the bathroom very much, had the separate bath tub and shower. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The breakfast was one of the best, they serve black and red caviar. The only problem was the location, it was little far from all the action. However, I would definetly stay here again and would recommend it to my friends.

A pleasant place to stay

A polished and personable business hotel. The location is very good for quick access to the Moscow Metro (the best way to get around) and if you're a walker, almost all the cultural sites are within striking distance (4-5 kilometers at most). The Scandinavian breakfast is a delicious and varied buffet--well laid-out and clearly labeled in both Russian and English, with a variety of good breads, fresh fruit, kefirs, smoked salmon and whitefish, and for the more traditional American breakfast, scrambled eggs, bacon, several types of sausage and baked curds and curd pancakes with jam, all served in a Scandinavian modern dining area with very soothing synthetic birdsong. It sounds a little like it should have been tacky, but it was delightful, especially in the gray last days of winter.
The rooms are compact (at least mine was) and the view negligible, but it was laid out delightfully and very cosy and airy feeling. The staff at the desk is fluent in English, the rest less so, but uniformly helpful and gracious. They were able to answer my questions about local transportation, Russian paperwork regarding entry and exit, and several local attractions comprehensively and speedily.
The rooms and premises are all immaculate, pleasant and very "international standard". The facing riverfront view is of mostly modern buildings, but one very pretty onion-domed church presides. All in all, a great place for a stay, if not a destination hotel.

It was my first time to Russia and I was not sure what to expect. So let me state what I wanted from a hotel. I wanted a close to downtown, clean, safe place to sleep and it that would not cost too much. This hotel provided that and more. So I was very happy with my choice. There is a nice workout area. The hotel is not far from downtown Moscow. The metro is close with only 4 stops to Red Square. The breakfast is nice and will save you some Rubles. The staff is courteous and helpful. If I had to spend a lot of time in the room...they would be a little small. But they were perfect for what I wanted. So all around it was a great place for me to stay.
