Staff Going Well Beyond Expectation

Amazing, Fantastic and Far Exceeded Expectations. From checking in, to swimming in the great big pool, to the phenomenal breakfast (included in room price), to Helena at the Concierge Desk with helpful tips and hints about the city in English to the AMAZING Julia at the Front Desk.....My wife loved the candies at the front desk. The night before we checked out, Julia gave my wife a Present. She had gone out on her own and bought my wife a bag of the very same candies......Thanks Savoy and Julia.....You made Moscow feel like home and made a couple new friends in America. EXCELLENT HOTEL

I recently returned from Moscow where I stayed at the Savoy Hotel. The hotel was excellent from location, room size and comfort to service. To begin, the location was right in the middle of city, about 6 blocks from the Kremlin. It was also located 1 block away from the pink line and 1 1/2 blocks away from the red line. This was very crucial for us because Taxi service in Moscow is very pricey. The hotel was very beautiful. The lobby was as grand as it looked in it's pictures. The bar was open at any time for food and drinks and the bartenders were always very nice and friendly. The rooms were spacious, clean and had a large bathroom with extra's included like bathrobes, slippers, complimentary water and chocolates daily. The best was the service, from the front desk to room service, everyone was always willing to go the extra length to help in anyway. The price of hotels in Moscow are very expensive so for the price that I was able to get , it was a great value. I totally recommend this hotel. Also, I had read some reviews about construction across the street being an issue, this was not the case during the days I was there. Construction was not done at night and if they did, I could not hear a thing and my room was locate right across from the construction.

Well-situated central Moscow hotel

The hotel is located on a 2 lane street about 4 blocks from Red Square. There is a pedestrian mall about 1 block away and numerous restaurants and high-end shopping stores nearby. The neighborhood is safe and their are several metro stops nearby. The Bolshoi theater is about 3 blocks away. The people at the hotel front desk are friendly and gave good suggestions about nearby restaurants and timely wake-up calls. The rooms are beautifully appointed and were kept perfectly clean and tidy by the maid service. One downside was that my room had a view of nearby apartments rather than something more interesting. The internet was free and I used it to catch up on some work in the evenings even though I was on vacation. I did not use the hotel restaurant but it provides fine dining.

Great for couples

We travelled as a couple and the hotel was just perfect. It is located in the centre of Moscow within minutes by foot from most of the places to be visited. A metro station was just across the street, which came handy as the weather was mostly really bad (rain mixed with snow, which of course is quite normal at the end of october). More specifically, I would like to highlight the kindness and efficiency of the staff already during the preparation of the trip. I received answers to my emails within a day, for instance when I asked for the documents needed for the tourist visa.

Savoy is an awesome hotel!

The Savoy is located near the center of Moscow. Red Square, Kremlin, and the bolshoi are all a short walk away. This area is very pricey but I got a great deal through .... (Traveling on the weekend in early December greatly helped the price point.) The breakfast was very robust and tasty! You are also a short walk to 2 Metro stops.

Savoy: A Traditional Russian Experience

Having been to Moscow 10 times for tourism, this was a first time stay at Savoy since my previous favorite lodging's rates have skyrocketed recently. Location is centrally convenient, 2 minutes on foot to the metro, 6 minutes to the Bolshoi Theater, and 8 minutes to Red Square, Gum Shopping Mall, Okhotny Ryad Shopping Center, and to the fashionable Tverskaya street. Rooms are small, lack closet space, and are undecorated with bare walls. Outside the rooms are small sitting areas where a late night internet user may flee comfortably while his family members snooze. The indoor swimming pool was nice but the adjacent shower lacked the amenities of other first class hotels.Staff is very helpful and accomodating. Inclusive breakfast was tasty and filling and served in an elegant dining hall.Overall this stay was positive despite the high tariff which which typifies all premium hotels in the Russian capitol. Yes I would re-book The Savoy.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

If you wish to save on transportation costs, Kuznetsky Most subway (metro) station is 2 minutes from the hotel. For a bit less than $1.00, one can travel to almost anywhere in Moscow. To avoid exhorbitant taxi fees from the airport, utilize the new trains and then transfer to the metro easily. Nonetheless do not expect assistance in English when using these transport venues.

Perfect location, Service very poor

This was a midterm term break with a group of friends. Fabulous hotel but poor service and cold breakfast. I found the staff at reception rude and very unhelpful. I asked about nearby restaurants and the receptionist replied "As I recall telling you yesterday..." I wasnt told about any restaurants and didnt bother looking for anymore advice. The breakfast was cold on the first morning so we decided to go earlier the following morning and it was still cold. My final fault was we booked tickets to the Swan Lake ballet with Concerige. They charged us 2000 rubles but booked the wrong tickets (to a russian drama). When they went to get the correct tickets the ballet was booked out. We were pretty disappointed but called to the theatre while out on a walk and got excellent tickets to Swan Lake for 500 rubles...!! This hotel is in a perfect location and is beautifully decorated. Shame about the staff.

Buy your tickets for shows, ballets and bus trips from ticket offices, its so much cheaper and you'll get better seats.
