Room clean-up not attentive enough. We stayed for 6 nights and everyday we came back to notice... either the bathroom shampoo/ body lotion not replenished, or bottled water missing, or uncleaned coffee cups still lying there ... The currency exchange machine never worked.

The hotel occupies the top floor of a 5-storey building (with an elevator). Entrance to the hotel is from the street. Excellent hotel where client is king

This hotel became our home for the 9 days we were in St-Petersburg. The entire staff was always trying to help us whatver our needs were ... and mind you, we had quite a few, because we received our luggage only 4 days after our arrival and because we were stolen while having a quick lunch at a cafe neer a church we had just visited.
Thank you very much and molto bravo.
Rooms are large and comfortable, clean and so quiet.
The business centre is well equiped and open all the time.
If we ever go back to St-Seterbourg, we would certainly stay at the Renaissance baltic again.

This is a very nice hotel, with a very helpful and friendly staff. The staff did speak English and were very helpful with any questions that were asked. I would recommend this hotel, as it is also a good value for this luxury hotel.

Empfehlenswertes Hotel für Touristen & Geschäftsleute. Reception Angestellte sprechen gut englisch und sind hilfsbereit. Gute Lage mit Metrostation in der Nähe - Bahnhof nach Moskau kann ebenfalls zu Fuss erreicht werden. Sehr gutes Frühstücksbuffet. Angenehm ist ebenfalls dass das Hotel 2 Restaurants betreibt - wovon speziell das kleinere mit Preis-Leistung glänzt. Würden dieses Hotel jederzeit wieder buchen.

This is a wonderful hotel on Nevinski, the main road going to the Winter Palace and most of what St. Petersburg, but is 10 minute bus ride. I'd stay here again.

Was there for business. The room is very clean, spacious, everything you need is handy, great staff, there are 3 restaurants a bar with great food from buffet to gourmet.
Highly recommend even for stay with kids or fir business. Metro station is nearby.

Our stay in St. Petersburg was mostly centered around daily activities with a good family friend, but the relatively new Holiday Inn on Moskovsky Prospect really sharpened the finer edges of our experience. The staff, mostly young 20 to 30-somethings, were (extremely, in [...]'s case) helpful, energetic, and charming, and on a few occasions even helped us to understand the tricks of getting around town. The gym, while lacking in floor mats, was clean and well organized with new equipment. The hotel's restaurants, Korova Bar and Rodchenko, were a little overpriced, even as hotel dining goes, but offered a great sampling of local cuisine. The gift shop isn't really commendable, since the kitschy selection doesn't match the sky-bound prices. The hotel though, is situated 3 blocks from a major subway station, and for US$1 a ride, I'm sure better gifts can be found 3 stops away in the city center. For the ([...]) price, you can't really beat what you're getting here. You'll almost want to spend you whole holiday IN!

The hotel was extremely clean, well staffed, and attended to all our needs. We were in Russia to meet the child we are adopting from an orphanage and speak no Russian but the staff was very friendly, most spoke very good English, and our stay, as a whole, was wonderful. There is great security at the front entrance and we felt very safe there. We will definitely use this hotel on our second trip when we return to bring out child home.

Small rooms with few amenities. Soiled old rugs and walls in hallways. Smoke free rooms, but no non-smoking section in restaurant or lobby. No air conditioning controls in room, and room temperature was uncomfortable. Check in was arduous and un-automated with clerks walking back and forth to the back office. Not worth the money. Only plus is near airport.

In search of Romanovs

The staff make this hotel extra special . It is a very clean, comfortable well-run hotel with a special sense of intimacy and concern that many bigger impersonal hotels don't have. While not super slick it is more than pleasing in appearance. I was travelling on my own and more than happy to have made L'Angleterre my choice in St Petersburg. The position makes walking to most of the sites possible. The food is also excellent.

My wife and I are experienced, cosmopolitan travelers and had minimal expectations for our hotel in St. Petersburg. We were completely wrong. The Angleterre exceeded our expectations by a broad margin. The staff throughout is highly professional, competent, and reliable. Their English skills were excellent, their willingness to help was welcome and their demeanor was charming.
The hotel's courier service is (while expensive) also valuable, as their drivers speak excellent English and protect against the maverick, unreliable cab companies operating in the city.
Also worth mentioning as superb are: the quality of the 24-hour room service, the buffet breakfast, and the bedding.
One thing we would recommend to anyone is the upgrade to a room with an intimate view of St. Isaac's (and the Square) which is monumental and awe-inspiring.
Additionally, the hotel was wonderful in helping us secure our travel visas to Russia. As anyone who has done this knows, it is a complex, 2-month process filled with red tape, requiring a "sponsor" (in this case, the Angleterre) for admission to the country. Their concierge responded to all of our requests for assistance promptly and thoroughly, including faxing us the necessary documents.
The negatives are few. Most signicantly, the hotel and St. Pete's itself are among the most expensive locales we have ever encountered (including Venice, Rome, Paris and NYC). Additionally, as with many European hotels, the Angleterre charges excessively for the use of WI-FI in the rooms.
But these are insignificant quibbles compared to the wonderful virtues of this marvelous hotel. We would recommend a stay there to anyone.

The Petro Palace is in the best location in St. Petersburg. It is on a nice quite street, and only a couple of block blocks from the Nevsky Prospect, main street of St. Petersburg. The concierge service was wonderful and booked us a private guided tour with Natasha for the Hermitage. One really needs a guide because the Hermitage is so massive it would take you weeks to see everything. [...] knew all the history about everything we looked at, and we wasted no time in seeing all the highlights, plus you don't have to wait in a very, very long line for tickets. The Hermitage is also only two and a half blocks from the hotel, so you can walk back there anytime you want. The hotel concierge also booked us a very enjoyable tour to Catherine's Palace. The beautiful Church of The Spilled Blood is another very close attraction, as well as many others, the souvenir stalls behind the church have the best prices in all of St. Petersburg, but if you don't have time to go there, the hotel shop wasn't so bad either as to selection and price. We also took the Hop on and Hop off Bus, which I usually really like, but in St. Petersburg, I wouldn't recommend it since it only drives you up and down Nevsky Prospect, and you can walk there easily from the hotel.The Petro Palace has really great beef stroganoff, we only ordered room service, but it was really nice. However, the restaurant has a dancing bear show if you're interested in that kind of thing. Don't get a room on the third floor because that is where their giant, laundry operation room is, and the whole third floor is always really hot and humid. The reason they call it the Petro Palace is because it was once a real palace, so some of the rooms are quite a walk from the elevator. If you spend any time in the hotel as we did, 10 days, you will notice that the hotel seems to be really two hotels in one. One side has basic decorations in the hallways and basic rooms, and the other half has stained glass windows and really nice carpet and wall decorations, which is where the suites are located. The hotel has free high speed internet service in the lobby where there is a bar you can buy drinks and some treats, if you wish, while checking your email and watching the exotic fish swimming in the tank. The Italian restaurant across the street "Da Vinci" has really great pizza, along with many traditional Russian dishes such as dumplings, which were delicious. We would recommend the Petro Palace to anyone visiting St. Petersburg. It is really a great location. As for the staff, they all spoke English, some may seem standoffish by Americans but this is Russian and not the US. They are not on vacation.

The location is right in the historic district. We could walk almost everywhere. Was close enough to walk to see the raisng of the bridges and walk back even as late as it was. Went to the bar on the 7th floor several times. Enjoyed the view from there.

Nice, clean, and well run hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were a little small but comfortable and well supplied.
My chief complaint is all of the hidden costs. The in-hotel restaraunts are very expensive. You have to pay for internet access and there is a very high hotel "tax" that will be added to your bill - almost as much as the room charge. They want about $75 US for a transfer from the airport. You can get a Taxi for about $15 US.

This 3-room apartment, ideal for 5 or even 6 people, is perfect for rest, relaxation and convenience. The bedrooms are very quiet. One of the bedrooms has a double bed and a wardrobe with mirrors, the other a double bed and wardrobe. The living room comes with a double pull out sofa, a TV on a stand. The kitchen adjacent to the living room is well equipped with everything you might need to make homemade meals - there is a fridge, a stove, a microwave, a kettle and of course there are plates, forks, cups and mugs. In the bathroom there is jacuzzi, a washing machine. As with most City Realty managed serviced apartments, the apartment comes with free local calls and other amenities that will make your stay as comfortable and as pleasant as possible.

The hotel was built in June 2006. Bright spring colour mosaics and large pictures with flowers are used in the decoration of the interior. So, there are yellow, green and purple floors and rooms with eye catching pictures of irises, poppies, lilies and orchids on the walls.The unusual combination of yellow, green and purple colours creates a warm and cosy atmosphere.
The hotel offers free breakfast to its guests.

Centrally located in St. Petersburg. 1 to 2 min from St. Issacs Cathedral. 10 to 30 minutes by foot from anywhere else you might want to be.
Entrance is shabby, but do not let that scare you. The hotel is small but nice. It is only a 5 room hotel but everything is up to reasonably high standards (I think a stand alone hotel would be 3 stars)
Negatives: doors in the hotel need insulation. I could not hear the other guests, but I could hear whatever happened in the hall. The staff person was conscientious, but without sound proofing on the doors, there are human limits to being quiet.
Somethings that pleasantly surprised me: it is a small hotel. I would expect some details might not be right.... but they were. There was enough hot water at peak demand in the morning (though water pressure was a problem for a period of 10 minutes). Beds were comfortable. Rooms were very clean. Staff were friendly and fluent in English.
Also, the restaurant across the street (Teplo) was amazingly good for a reasonable price (please keep in mind that I had just come from Moscow where a decent meal out for less than US$100 for two means McDonald's)

I traveled to St Petersburg by myself to celebrate my birthday. I spoke no Russian, but knew they spoke English at the hotel. This new little hotel was exactly in the location I wanted, since I would be walking almost everywhere- great location in the historic district. It is on the 3rd floor of an old building, so be prepared for a stairmaster experience, and the first two floors are a bit bombed out looking...but when you get to the hotel itself, it is very nice, clean and pleasant. It is small, which makes for a very comfortable homey feeling. The girls were all very nice and helpful. They went out of their way to make me feel welcome and help me with everything, from getting me flowers for my birthday to lending me a little clock for my room; from helping order a pizza to hiring a guide for touring the out of town Palaces. My room was pleasant and had modern amenities. Every morning a continental breakfast was served at whatever hour you wanted it, and you can come and go at any hour, since there is someone at the desk 24 hrs a day.
The price was very reasonable. I would return and would highly recommend this hotel.
