Good value and good location

  • Jtraveller
  • 13 Nov 2011
Nice hotel, staff very helpful, all you can eat buffet breakfast (not included in room charge), great location on Merchant Road near the river for holiday/sightseeing. We took a Merchant Room which wasn't the cheapest but still very good value compared to the Orchard Road hotel prices. Nice room with good bathroom facilities - shower but no bath but that didn't bother us. They gave us late checkout FOC (1400 hrs) and they let us have a shower in the gym area later in the afternoon before we left for the airport.

Pretty but Small

  • goromilo
  • 24 Nov 2011
The hotel is very pretty and recently renovated. I had a double room, but it was so small that two people could not fit in and even worst the suitcases. The hotel does provide you with shampoo, bath soap, comb, shaving cream, raisers, toothpaste, and toothbrush, but the bathroom was not completely clean. We did ask for more attention in the cleaning but it did not improve. The price and the location of the hotel are excellent.

You've been warned

  • YYZTraveller
  • 16 Mar 2011
Arrived early and I did appreciate the early admission to the cruise ship sized room. The hotel is new, unique and attractive; however, I just could not get beyond the size of the room. There is no room, just a bed surrounded by three walls and a small aisle. The washroom is unusable after the shower is used: it is one in the same, in fact the entire bathroom floor is the drain for the shower. The place has it's features, but I've never stayed in a hotel that has no windows in the room. It was weird to walk outside and go "oh, it's raining, why didn't I know this and dress for the weather...oh yeah, I can't see outside!" As I knew what to expect by reading other reviews I was prepared and enjoyed my stay. Staff were nice, room was clean, location was great with the MTR Chinatown station right around the corner. Often walked down to the waterfront, an easy 10 minute stroll. Would I stay again. No, I've done this one, I'll cross it off my list and move on to something bigger next time. My youth days are long gone.

Description
Can be arguably described as a designer boutique hotel, despite it size, the hotel has a deck with jacuzzi in the back. This little hip hotel is setting the standards in a very contrastingly old neighbourhood. Couple and gay friendly, it is also for young and trendy at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended. sg 12/10 The hotel retains the original exterior of the original 4 storey walk up shop house cum residence. It is under conservation from a past era in Singapore that is becoming all too rare these days. Painted white it does not hint of the modern interior. Located in the colorful area of Keong Siak Street and on the fringe of Chinatown, the buildings consist of pre-war shop houses (named after its build date, 1929) which is the alternative to the unbiquitious glass and concrete modern hotels. A short walk to the famous Smith street and Pagoda Street where one could get many choices of local delights in the evenings.

12-16 TECK LIM ROAD, Singapore, --

Description
A quaint boutique style hotel in picturesque Chinatown, which is ideal for visitors who want to see the local lifestyle. sg 01/08 The beige exterior is understated and blends in well with the surrounding shop houses. Some windows look down on the street. Located in the heart of the Chinatown heartland, in conservation pre-World War II shop houses, the hotel sits amidst the quaint and postcard scene of five foot walkways, coffee shops and activity filled streets; day and night.

Lovely building from the outside,

Lovely building from the outside, in good location not too far from MRT. Room clean and adequate but no windows. Reasonable value for money compared to Singapore hotel pricing generally. Pleasant and helpful staff. Breakfast a little disappointing, consisting of a toaster, a bagged sliced white loaf and instant coffee sachets. My requirement was for a bed for one night, between an evening arrival at the airport and an early morning departure by train to KL, and the hotel was more than adequate for this requirement.
