Classy but Unfriendly Hotel.
i did business while at teh hotel But the service is much left to be desired. The room service, house keeping all very lethorgic and unfriendly. The bath room design in Premier wing is quite bad and the bath room is all wet without any proper floor design. This is very bad indeed for a hotel o f this profile.

The staff was very very friendly and helpful in a bad situation - the lobby area was undergoing renovation. Noisy during the day.

Nice, but not worth the inflated price
We had a basic room, which was as its name suggests, was basically nice. Slightly outdated and the bathroom was very outdated as we apparently stayed in the older part, however the prices were very much inflated, [...]. We could have stayed in the Pan Pacific for USD $20 more a night. The tv was old and small and had a limited number of English channels and the sound wasn't that great. We did like that it wasn't on the main strip of Orchard Road, so it was less crowded and noisy, but still within walking distance of the Orchard Road shops. We made the trek several times a day. Also, food near the hotel (but not inside its own restaurants) was cheaper than places down on Orchard Road. The hotel is also within walking distance to the Flyer, Chinatown, and the Burgis area. I would stay there again as I'm not really that ritzy of a person to begin with, but I would definitely try to find it cheaper as I don't think overall it was worth what we paid, especially as no meals were included. The staff was very nice and helpful though and never seemed to expect tips, which was refreshing.

Entertainment tip:
Short drive from hotel
Avoid Sentosa Island, at least until later in 2010 when Universal Studios opens and then maybe it will be worth going. It was one of the main reasons for our trip to Singapore and we were massively disappointed, especially as the main draw, the Pink Dolphins, weren't even doing their show. The Zoo was by far the best place we visted.

Carlton
Nice location with friendly service but room charge matched a five star hotel and not three star which this would qualify (rooms were worn out, etc.).

2 Stays in February, 2012
Spent 3 nights in twin Superior room in older main wing on arrival in Singapore. Nice view, clean room with older style bathroom. The beds were a bit hard. Reception staff wonderful and proactive. A week later I came back to stay 3 nts in a Premier Club Room with access to the Club Lounge and other benefits including free WIFI, newspaper, breakfast, all day snacks and cocktails and canapes in evening. Firstly they tried to deny my booking was for new wing until I insisted & provided proof. My room on 16th floor was amazing. View over Marina Bay Sands. Room was huge, bathroom and toiletries were lovely. But, daily newspaper never arrived, even after telling staff. Premier Club lounge was always empty of guests, staff were formal but service was rather poor (spilled drinks, coffee bought but no spoon). The food at breakfast was nice, but not amazing. Evening canapes were dreadful - little meatballs, bowls of corn chips and potato chips, chicken on skewers - I could have bought those sort of takeaway foods in the basement area of Raffles City Shopping Centre across the road. Then, music started playing from a speaker in my room. 2 hours later and several complaints it still wasn't stopped. Eventually fixed, though a junior staff member said same problem was happening elsewhere in the hotel while a more senior staff person said it was only my room. On checkout I was made to wait in Club Lounge while my cash deposit was retrieved from the safe in the main wing of the hotel, then they forgot the receipt I had to sign so I was made to wait even longer as staff again went over to the other part of the hotel. In the end I really wanted to just leave the Premier Wing to get away from the endless apologies and poor service. The room style and view was spectacular, but the rest wasn't up to par - no wonder the whole new wing was nearly empty of guests!!

Well located with amenities close by. Polite, helpful staff. Internet access expensive if you use for more than a few minutes a day. As usual you get stung for drinks (very expensive). Would stay again as overall good value for money
