ok stay at kam leng
get a superior room only. standard rooms are dark closets. hotel tries for retro funky. succeeds in public spaces. rooms though, give off an institutional vibe, like a refurbished (mental) hospital or correctional facility. not a problem for a short stay. hotel is close(r) to airport than most and a bit far from the action. if we went to singapore again, would try to score a hotel in the chinatown or bugis area. overall Kam Leng is pretty good value for money (for singapore).

great value for quick stay
Checked in late - about midnight. Got a free upgrade to corner room... which apparently has a lot more space. But even so, just need somewhere to sleep for the night and shower, and given singapore is pretty pricey, this was a good option. Rooms very well kept and the hotel has a bit of a funky retro theme throughout. Opposite a 24 hour food court. Was about a $25 cab ride from the airport, but if you can get the metro you will save some $.

Comfortable with Style
Our second stay at the newly renovated Kam Leng, and every bit as enjoyable as our first. Wonderful sense of historical style, tastefully decorated - pleasant balance of old architecture and fresh, new fixtures and furnishings. Comfortable beds. Great food court across the street open 24/7, we ate there every night and morning. Excellent wifi, fast and reliable, and printing services at front desk completed our IT needs. Looking forward to our next visit! Great value for the dollar in Singapore.

Wonderful foodcourt across the street open 24/7, wide selection, great atmosphere - everything from Korean and Japanese to Hainanese chicken and even frog or turtle soup.
