Studio M Review 9-2--11

Nice, Quiet; Japanese style hotel with small rooms, 2 floors. All Showers and water is on the first floor. The queen size bed and Flat screen TV are on the upper floor. Excellent, full window view. If you do not like steps when getting up in the middle of the night to go to the bath room, you may want to investigate another hotel. Breakfast is excellent. Staff is excellent. About a 20 minute walk to the nearest MRT (either Clarke Quay or Chinatown). Fantastic for restaurants since it is 2 minute from Robertson Quay & Robertson Walk. Excellent place to stay if you love to walk. You are less than 30 minutes from Orchard road, 20 minutes from the Singapore History Museum.

Good over all experience, and

Good over all experience, and a great concept which i will highly recommend. However a few small issues which will ultimately prevent it from becoming a top notch hotel. a) Hotel guests get free parking which is a deciding factor when i chose studio M. However at 10pm the lobby parking was full, and there was 5 slots 'reserved for management' - always empty- at the very front, which they could not even open up to me for an hour since i told them i was just dropping by the hotel for a moment. Being told parking next door will be reimbursed, it was also full. Just a shame that the employees and management are so rigid and unobliging. Resulting in me waiting in my car for 35 mins waiting for someone to leave... b) F&B: Standard of room service is terrible, comes in plastic tupperware with plastic cutlery. not a huge issue. Morning breakfast buffet is also very limited in choice.

The room itself is a fine, tiny

The room itself is a fine, tiny and clean. However, no much choice of dining, food and beverages. And the water pressure of the shower is very poor!!! Didn't enjoy bathing there.......... However, the staff are very nice, friend and efficient. Accommodated my request of changing room efficiently...!! I still believe it's a good hotel and might consider to stay there again when I visit Singapore again.

Great boutique hotel right on

Great boutique hotel right on Robertson Quay - close to many good restaurants / bars, etc and Singapore's eclectic night life. Rooms are brilliant for business with big work areas and a clever mezzanine bed arrangement. Certainly great for business, holidays, sightseeing.

As always a fabulous small hotel

As always a fabulous small hotel in a fabulous location. Love the 1 1/2 story rooms - gives me a lot of room to lay out papers and get some work done. Location is close to great restaurants and a 5 minute walk to Clarke Quay. The only negative is the breakfast - mediocre presentation and the basics such as proper cheeses and cold cuts missing.

It is the first time I have stayed

It is the first time I have stayed at this hotel and I was very impressed. My wife couldn't quite come to terms with the loft style or the closeted shower, but I loved it. Everything was clean, accessible and, with full length windows, bright. Of a night time, from a certain place on the loft stairs you can see the light show of the Marina Bay Sands - do yourself a favour and sit in the dark with a couple of beers watching it, or the remote control aircraft in the park over the river. It's a 10 min walk to nearest train which is fine with me, and the coffee downstairs is the best in Singapore. The pool and deck area round this hotel off to a complete package. I would definitely stay here again.
