Great time at Saint Martin
It was a perfect family getaway at Saint Martin. Wonderful beaches, nice people. On the down side, a little pricy. We stayed six days at the Westin. I would recomended it but, because of the location, at Dawn Beach, you really need a car if you want to explore the island.Try to avoid rush hours (from 12 to 2 pm and from 5 to 7 pm) when going to Philipsburg and Simpson Bay.

Great time
Wonderful time, the staff was extremely pleasant. Amenities were perfect. Only draw back to the whole experience was location. Unless you rent a car you have to take a taxi for any day trips. All in all a very relaxing experience.

The Butterfly Farm was a wonderful visit. You think you are in the middle of nowhere, but the atmosphere was impressive. The tour guide was great.

Romantic Relaxing Getaway
This is our second stay at the Westin Dawn Beach. The staff is extremely friendly, The setting fantastic, our Ocean view room this time was facing St. Barths instead of overlooking the pool and was very private and quite, The beach of course is the best beach on the island (in our opinion) and we have been coming to this island for years. It is always clean and well-kept and availability of chairs and cabanna's is never a problem, like we had always experienced in Aruba.

Westin not the same it used to be.
Some of the staff very friendly, some not. Too many times they tried to sell me a timeshare! Half the time, there was no bellman or valet. The concierge was excellent, but pushed a Taxi friend even though we had rental. The food was terrible for this type of hotel. The service was slow and not very polite. Would not ask for refill, until you called them, at pool bar. Waitress was more interested in spending time with her children that were in the hotel pool. No towels in the pool, they were being laundered. Did not offer to bring them to us, we had to go get them. Not the Westin I am used to. Some people were outright rude. I was the only person in the store, and was told the item I was looking for was "back there somewhere" I would not expect this from a Westin, but from a 7-11. My last trip to St. Martin.

Worst Westin
I have stayed in multiple Westins in the past and this by far the worst one I have ever stayed at for vacation. When we arrived in our "ocean view room"--there was a view of the parking lot. When I inquired about my view--the bellman told me to stick my head out and look to the left. Once we complained about the lack of a view which we paid extra for--we were moved to a room this a only slightly better view. No one ever apologize about the misleading pictures on the website. The staff there-acts if they are doing you a favor when they serve you. Very rude and not helpful. There were no umbrellas near the pool--requiring me to rent a cabana daily for an extra fee just for some shade. I wouldn't recommend this hotel at all.

ocean view not as described
Well we checked into out ocean view room only to walk out the door to the covered patio and see a side parking lot we said i thought we had ocean view the man says yeah look over the railing to the left. not ocean view . moved our room to another ocean view which overlooked the pool much better than the parking lot but still had to look out to the left. service was exceptional from some staff then mediocre from others. 2 restraunts on site one was closed for supposed renovation and would reopen in november so left only one which we werent aware

Good Hotel, expensive food
The Hotel is confortable and clean, the food is good but way too expensive. Good for relax a couple of days, but if you want some excitment you will need to rent a car and go downtown. The frech part is the best.

Excellent hotel
We stayed at the Westin in March of 2012. It was very a very clean and comfortable place to stay. They pool and beach are beautiful. If you stay here you must get a car to enjoy some of highlights of the island; grand case, marigot, etc. There is free parking at the hotel. The hotel really impressed us by welcoming us with a bottle of champagne and strawberries because we were in St Martin on a honeymoon. Getting to the hotel was difficult with very poor signage but once at the hotel we were given excellent written directions by the concierge to get to all the major destinations on the island - i highly recommend you get these printed up instructions from the front desk. The food on St Martin is amazing and the Westin has decent meals but they are definitely subpar compared with the rest of the restaurants on this island. Have one meal at most here and make sure to check out culinary perfection at places like Le Pressior in Grand case. Mamas pizza near the hotel was very good too. A fun day trip from the island was to visit Anguilla which was pricey but worth it in that you will see the most amazing beach. We also enjoyed a day out on the Random Wind sailboat.

Visit Anguila which is a ferry boat from Marigot - one of the most beautiful beaches you will ever see. Remember to bring your passport - Anguilla is British.

Either Orbiz or the Westin lied about the "ocean view"
Having paid extra money for an "ocean view" and getting an "under construction building" instead set a bad tone from the beginning. The staff told us that they have "ocean views" and "ocean fronts" - to which the later wasnt an option for us on the website. So I think anyone would naturally anticipate that our room would face the ocean when buying an "ocean front". They didnt budge with us at all and rudely told me that what I have is satisfactory. In general the staff there was less than friendly the whole time (which is not what I expect from a Westin). Most of them seemed like it was an annoyance to be at their work and to help anyone. The power went out for a couple hours and the hallways had no backup lights so we were stranded in our room. Everything was way too expensive (The Dutch side of the island is supposed to be less expensive and yet we were paying an average of $40/breakfast and $100/dinner). And quite honestly there was just nothing to do at this particular location.
