DO NOT STAY HERE
I was so thrilled to stay at this hotel and especially be in south africa. IT was ruined by those in charge of this hotel because they house THIEVES! I had personal items stolen from my hotel room after strict orders not to enter my room were given. The staff did nothing about it and had the audacity to tell me nothing was stolen. Completely ruined my trip. There are several other wonderful hotels in South Africa to stay and I am here to warn everyone NOT TO STAY AT THIS HOTEL.

Perfect Place to Enjoy Cape Town
This is a very high end hotel located near downtown. The rooms are really suites, with a separate bedroom and a living room which has a small but complete kitchen and dining area at one end. The hotel has a fine restaurant, along with a small lobby bar, and a newly-renovated roof-top bar adjacent to a small pool and sunbathing area. The staff is especially attentive and you will enjoy chatting with them; they are skilled at personal service. One feature is that it has a shuttle which leaves once an hour and which will take you anywhere within 5 kilometers; I found this to be particularly helpful.y

Shopping tip:
Long walk from hotel
It only takes 15 minutes or so to walk downtown, and if you leave the hotel and go right (toward downtown) in six or seven blocks you come to a small supermarket called Spar which has a fab selection of food and drink of all kinds and you can amply stock your suite's kitchen from here. (PS Their lemon cake is to die for; one piece feeds two.) Note that the hotel is on "Main Rd." but this turns into "Somerset" as you walk downtown, and in downtown changes to "Riebeek St."

Excellent Hotel
We have just returned from a week's holiday in this hotel and are very pleased to recommend it to others. Staff try very hard to give the guests a friendly and efficient service. Food at breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. The suites are well appointed with luxurious bathrooms, comfortable bedrooms, a light-filled living room and kitchenette (very well equipped, even had a washer/dryer). Whilst we were there (Oct 2012) the Sky Bar, pool and sun terrace were closed for upgrade if these things are important to you just check they have reopened before booking.

perfect getaway
Fantastic hotel in a perfect position with fabulous staff who did everything (and more) they could to make your stay perfect. The 1800 restauarant is absolutely gorgeous, you will not get better steaks anywhere. Pool and pool bar being renovated which was a disappointment so we were unable to swim and the neighbouring nightclub was very loud on the Friday and Saturday night but apart from that it was truly a brilliant trip and will definitely stay here again. Do ask for a stadium view room...Fabulous....

Trip to SA
Wonderful hotel, top notch. It's a little odd having to leave your key every time you leave the hotel. The shuttle service was very reliable, a requirement for evening outings. The view of Signal Hill from the room was breathtaking. Large room, lots of light from windows. Room service was a bit slow, and they kept forgetting to put wash clothes in the bathroom.

Excellent week-long break
I booked this hotel on a 50% off deal and it was worth every penny. Breakfast buffet was included every day and was excellent - fruit, hot food (ask for the eggs benedict), cold food and tea and coffee. There was a rooftop bar which was excellent and reasonably priced (compared to London prices). The restaurant attached to the hotel was good value The hotel offers a free shuttle (taxi) service to anywhere within 5km of the hotel. This was useful because many Cape Town tourist spots are within this distance (V&A waterfront 3 mins drive/10 minutes walk, Long Street where the bars and restaurants are mostly based, the CBD where a lot of museums are based). However the hotel charge more than local cab services for distances beyond 5km. Staff were friendly. Rooms clean. We stayed in a deluxe suite (the lowest tier room available) which included a lounge and fully-equiped kitchen area. The only downsides were: that the bedroom was a little noisy due to being right next to the corridor. And the gym was a small room with only three machines and some basic weights. The pool was attached to the rooftop bar and not suitable for a workout. I would definitely recommend staying here, especially in the deal we had.

Great for Cape Town 1st timer
We had a spacious, clean suite with nice furnishings. A little loud on the "ocean" side at night thurs-sun. Good breakfast. Excellent, helpful staff who were good with kids. Plenty of places to eat/drink/grab groceries nearby. Decent walk or quick cab ride to V&A waterfront; cabs were generally plentiful. Rooftop is a nice bonus, but fair warning, the pool is frigid!
