Great Hotel

Great hotel. Cool rooms and great atmosphere. The milkshakes are absolutely the best. The staff was more than accommodating. We had no issues at all with the rooms, pool, or bar. Great location for night life on Long Street. Relatively close to the waterfront. Good price. I would strongly recommend.

It is a unique Hotel!

I went to a conference in Cape Town International Conference Centre; it takes less than 10 minutes in a taxi (2 km). The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, clean and with beautiful views of Table Mountain. I must admit that only went to the hotel to sleep so I can not evaluate the other services like restaurant or swimming pool.

Nice modern hotel

It is a very nice hotel, with a modern theme-design (fire & ice), what can be noticed in almost every detail. The hotel was clean and the staff very friendly. The rooms are well equiped. The hotel is located nor far from city center (short drive or longer walk)

not so hot after all....

The room itself was not so bad....a very strange set up (when you walk in, you are in the bathroom) but I believe that the layouts for many rooms are different. However, the restaurant was horrible. When my family and I went there for dinner, we waited an hour for any of our food to arrive, and when it did, it was all overcooked! The manager offered us the buffet instead which I ate simply because I was too hungry to wait for them to ruin another meal for me....but he didn't even bother to take any of the meals off of the bill. Terrible management, if you ask me. The next night, I ordered room service and again...horrible. Tasteless...flavorless. It's amazing how much service like this can effect your stay. I was not pleased.

Wonderful hotel

I loved this hotel. The staff is really friendly. The elevators are fun (one is like a shark cage and tells you to keep your limbs inside!). There were also several computers for guest use (free). The breakfast was plentiful and tasty - and the breakfast room has an enormous aquarium on one side so the fish could see you eating breakfast and vice versa. I had a splendid view of Table Mountain from my room and my room was very nice and very clean. Coffee and tea were available in the room, and at reception there was cold juice all the time - a nice touch. For me the location was excellent since I was interested in seeing museums, exploring the center of Cape Town, etc. - all of this was in very easy walking distance. The waterfront area was about a 20 minute walk. I would certainly highly recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Short walk to museums, Greenmarket Square, Company Gardens. Longer walk (about 20 minutes) to waterfront attractions.

Nothing Special.. not Sizzling at all!!

No personality. What looks like a neat and different decore in the pictures is really just a buch of trash they threw together weather it went together or not. Old garage sale second hand trash. The place was hard to find published address wasn't in the car rental GPS. No signs, people sitting on the curb all around the building at night when I arrived didn't know if I wanted to stop or not. Parking is difficult to find and attendants are slow assisting. Elevator was out all day Saturday had to use the stairs. Not worth the price!! Hotel is not not that close to anything.. There are alot better choices!! Stay by the Waterfront.

Very positive experience

I was in Cape Town for a conference at the Convention Center. The Fire & Ice was not the closest hotel, nor did it have the sea view that some of the hotels & B&Bs on the Sea Point have, but I enjoyed my stay and thought it was a good value. I thought the funky room design was fun - the shower in the middle is kind of odd and not good if you're sharing the room with someone who's not your significant other but anyhow there's only one bed so that should tell you something. The view of Table Mountain from the hallways and presumably some rooms (not mine) is nice. The elevators are kind of silly (one is decorated like a shark tank, one is a cable car, and the other is draped in black curtains and is kind of spooky) and the whole hotel definitely has a dark and hip feel - lots of black and red walls and funky lights. The safe in my room was enormous - bigger than most and nice for storing a laptop without having to squeeze it in. The internet connection was probably the most annoying aspect of my stay -- it's free but they give you vouchers that are only good for 50 megabytes so if you are using the web a lot and sending emails with attachments you'll find yourself getting disconnected and having to log in with a new password every 30-60 minutes. Just ask the front desk for a stack of vouchers, they were fine about doing that, but really they should increase it to something more reasonable. Transport to/from the Convention Center was easy and affordable. Breakfast was good and dinners were fine but nothing special. The other options near the hotel were somewhat limited, particularly being reluctant to walk alone at night.
