We were delighted with our stay

We were delighted with our stay in the Hotel Oriente, it is well located on La Rambla. We had a balcony room which was excellent. The hotel staff were extremly helpfull. We then had to move to another Husa operated hotel , the Intenational, just across the street which was equally as good, We have no hesitation in recomending these hotels to friends etc. Were the opertunity to present itself we would comeback.

Great location on Las Ramblas Street

The hotel was located on Las Ramblas street which does get very noisey since it's a popular place to be and lots of bars and restaurants are there. The staff was pretty helpful and they tried their best to help us. Rooms were small, but clean.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

Close to bars and restaurants, but might want to consider doing a bus tour since all the main attractions are not very close

Ideal location

The hotel is literally right in the middle of Las Ramblas, with bars, shops, cafes and restaurants surrounding it. The building itself is old and has character, but has clearly been renovated and is beautiful and clean. Before my stay, I'd read other reviews that the rooms were small, which is true, but they had everything we needed - decent size closet, spacious bathroom, television, hairdryer, safe, bed, etc. I would definitely stay here again for the great location and comfortable room.

Simple & Great Location!

GREAT location, clean and friendly but they did not have working wifi the entire four days I was there. Even if they did, don't expect to get a strong enough connection on the fourth floor. The hotel staff was nice and recommended using the internet at their sister site, International Hotel just a couple blocks away which provide free working wifi and computer stations. I had a street-side room on the 4th floor and now know what all the other reviews were talking about as far as the loud noises going on until 5am! However, when the balcony door was shut, I didn't hear a sound so just make sure you get one of the rooms with the sound-proof windows and you'll be fine! As it goes with other hotels in Europe, there was no ice machine available. I wasn't even able to call the front desk from the phone.

With the location, cafe's, restaurants and fresh food market nearby, it's not necessary to pay for their OK breakfast.

The hotel is at an excellent location. The hotel staff is very, very friendly, professional, and certainly make one feel at home and as a special guest, specially the front desk staff was great. The room was ok but a little small for 2 persons but it had a balcony to the street of La Rambla which made it great!

great hotel but loud

The hotel was very elegant with marble floors etc. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very large rooms for a European hotel. Great location on La Rambla. The bed was somewhat uncomfortable, but not too bad. The only drawback was that the street it is on (La Rambla) is very loud until about 4:00 - 5:00 am which makes sleeping very difficult.

Convenient even if not luxurious

This hotel is right in the heart of Barcelona's Las Ramblas, almost equidistant from the Columbus Memorial and Placa de Catalunya. Very conveniently located for access to all tourist buses and a number of iconic attractions like La Boqueria market, the Cathedral, Placa Reial, La Pedrera, Casa Batllo, etc. The common areas and lobby are beautiful but the rooms are quite old and tired. Basic amenities are included but no irons are provided and unless you bring your own you have to pay dearly for laundry/ ironing services. The pillows are quite odd, paper thin, long and narrow. You definitely need to request extras to sleep comfortably. I had seen before booking that people complained about the noise from the lively street. We had no such issues and found the room to be rather quiet with the exception of housekeepers who were virtually yelling in the hallways early each morning. Another oddity was the bathroom. There were no surfaces in the shower to place soap, shampoo or anything else and the shower was only partially enclosed by a glass panel so there was a flood every time you took a shower. Not a huge deal but I wouldn't call it convenient. Light/power outlets inside the room were controlled by your room key which had to be inserted in a slot near the door. Maybe this is common in Europe but I had never seen it before so it took me a minute to figure out. When you left the room and took your key the light & power went off automatically after a few minutes. While I realize that this is economical and saves energy, you can't leave anything charging in the room like a cell phone or camera batteries. Overall this hotel was worth the money for its location, otherwise amenities were just OK.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Naturally, there are hundreds of tapas places all over Barcelona. Most seem to offer the same stuff which honestly wasn't great. However, we found a wonderful place right next to Placa de Catalunya on Las Ramblas called Cerveceria Baviera with huge variety, much better and actually cheaper. For regular food, try La Fonda. It was simply fabulous, very close to the hotel, and the best price we found.
