We weren't happy

This will be a long, detailed review. We travel a lot, and this time was disappointing. For starters, this is NOT a family hotel. We were just a couple traveling, but I saw families with young children, and we felt bad for them. I'll start with the good stuff. 1. It's a 2 minute walk right down the street to get to the Glories (L1 red line) Metro station. Super easy to get around, buy a T 10 ticket, it's 10€ for 10 rides, really affordable, and will get you anywhere. 2. You're literally right next door to Torre Agbar. It's not a thing to do, it's more of a site to see. It looks beautiful at night, and you can take the best pics since you're right there. 3. You're also right down the street from a shopping center. Carrefour is similar to walmart, but not as trashy. Super cheap prices, we went there for water, snacks, and other random items. They charge for shopping bags (0.05€) nothing expensive, but bring your own bag or backpack. There are also restaurants, we at there a few times. 4. The hotel is clean for the most part, and well kept. 5. They do have a safe that's very easy to use, and gives you peace of mind. 6. If you call down for something, they are pretty quick. We called for towels. Now for the cons... 1. Don't let their pictures fool you, the room you get is pretty tiny. The entire bathroom, except the toilet, is surrounded by crystal clear glass walls. If you're a family with kids, good luck taking a private shower, everyone will be able to watch you no matter where they are in the room. 2. The television is just sad. It's tiny, it's a little bigger than an ipad. 3. The electrical outlets near our bed didn't work. We went down to the front desk to let them know but the lady we spoke to tried to make us feel stupid. She insisted we didn't have the right plugs (we're american) and we didn't know how to use european outlets. We've been to Europe many times, we knew what we were talking about, needless to say she pulled some attitude out of me with her rude comments. 4. The rooftop was closed the entire time we were there. We were told it would reopen on April 1st, we left April 6th and it still was inaccessible. One of the biggest reasons we wanted this hotel was for the view on the rooftop, we were very disappointed. 5. On our last night, after packing and enjoying our last night out, the electricity went out at 3am. The only problem is we had to be up at 7am, and when the electricity goes out, an extremely bright emergency light turns on in your room. It woke us up, we went into the hallway and these doors we hadn't recognized before had us blocked into our section of the hallway. Our room phone didn't work because of the outage, we were freaked out. After about an hour, they fixed the problem but never had any answers for any of us. It was the scariest moment of our vacation. 6. The hallways are gloomy, and dark. Not what you'd expect in a hotel. Most hotel hallways are well lit and bright, not in this hotel. 7. You're not really close to the stuff you want to see when you're on vacation. It's great to be right next to the metro, but spend the extra money to be closer to the sights. 8. They apparently switched management during our stay and tried to get us to pay the tourism tax halfway through our stay, and the other half when we were leaving. I refused, don't inconvenience your guests because of the change, ask your accountant to figure out the numbers for you. I hope this helps anyone that needs help picking a hotel. I travel a lot, and this was the most disappointing hotel I've ever stayed in. I won't be staying with the Silken brand hotels again.

Short weekend break

Welcoming reception. Nice room. Was taken aback by bathroom that had a clear glass wall. I was sharing with a male friend and had to promise not to look. Good thing I wasn't travelling with my mother!!

Winter Getaway

The location is amazing its close to the metro and you can basically go anywhere from that. The only thing I have to mention is that the Matress of the bed was really umcomfortable and hard. We asked the front desk about it and they told us that it was a trend now to have a hard mattress instead of soft. Overall we had a great time in Barcelona.

Wonderful hotel

My partner and I had the most amazing stay in Barcelona and the hotel was just fab. Looks just like the pictures, super clean, incredible roof top bar with yummy tapas - pool was tiny, more a large bath! But didn't matter as beaches are lovely. A little bit out of the city (35 min walk) but close to metro stops. 100 percent recommend. Although don't have breakfast - very expensive.

Excellent hotel

Excellent hotel. New, well maintained and very helpful staff. Breakfast fairly basic and overpriced. Excellent location with easy access to metro, tram and tour bus stop. Highly recommended.

A great place to get around Barcelona

A great stay. There was a problem with our room and the helpful staff rectified this with an upgraded room with a fabulous room with great views. Good transport links gave easy access to all areas of the city and the amazing Sagrada Familia an easy walk away. Local shops and restaurants were great, including a huge Saturday market. Facilities in the hotel were fun, especially the rooftop pool bar, complete with salsa dancing classes on Friday, popular with locals after work. We had a great time in this modern, comfortable and we'll run hotel. Thanks to Diana and Victor for sorting us out. Looking forward to a return visit soon.

Christmas in barcelona

We spent Christmas in barcelona and stayed here. I wasn't wild abt how small the room was at all. It was very close to the Glories subway stop which is very convenient.
