Outstanding visit. On beautiful ocean. Rooms had washer and dryer and fully equipped kitchen. Activities included Nordic beach walk, sangria and paella cooking classes, flamenco lessons, as well as the usual exercise activities. Side trips available to nearby spots.
I would recommend this place to anyone. Relaxing fun.
Something for everyone.

Eine gepflegte, großräumige Hotelanlage mit mehreren Pools und wunderschönen Pflanzen. Das Personal ausgesprochen liebenswürdig
und entgegenkommend. Das Frühstücks- und Abendbuffet ist vielfältig und abwechslungsreich. Auf Wunsch werden Eierspeisen, Fleisch und Fisch sofort gebraten - alles zum Zusehen. Das Essen ist insgesamt schmackhaft und leicht.

The spacious grounds of luxury hotel Meli Marbella Bans located directly on "Milla de Oro" beach, feature tropical gardens, three outdoor pools and tennis and paddle tennis courts.
Ample guestrooms, beginning at 40m2, were completely renovated in 2010 to highest luxury standard and feature elegantly furnished balconies with garden or pool views.
Guests will also enjoy an indoor heated pool, whirlpool, sauna, Turkish baths and massage service.
Ro Verde Restaurant offers a superb breakfast buffet with show cooking, as well as varied lunch and dinner buffets. In summer, La Hiedra restaurant serves Mediterranean treats outdoors, and the patio bar offers live entertainment and cocktails.
The residential area of Puerto Bans offers many shopping and dining options, and the best golf options on the Costa de Sol are nearby (within 20 km).

shame about the unusual weather

I read reviews about surly staff before i booked this hotel. Probably one word to describe some of the less smiley male staff but they were smart, efficient, polite possibly just a little too formal. Yet the the female personnel in all departments gave excellent service, superb customer recognition when passing guests anywhere in the hotel and close attention to customer service. There is an air of formality that comes across from the male staff, almost as if they have been trained to do so to limit any familiarity.
This hotel was excellent value for money and well situated for a short stroll into the port. there is a walk way all the way along the beach to Marbella that is great for exercise, running etc;
Very good breakfast with everything hot, fresh and tempting. You name it and it was probably there. I didn't see porridge but then again I didn't ask either. a superb selection was also available at dinner but I did think E29.50 was a bit steep for a buffet

spent 5 days at GMDP, and from start to finish it was just lovely. the location couldn't be better. trip was a last minute mom & daughter(19yrs old) get away. had a mountain view room. i would suggest getting a balcony room if possible but honestly, this room was fine. the hotel, top to bottom, clean as a whistle. despite what other reviewers may say, this is truly a 5 star european beach hotel. when i read some bad reviews i couldn't help but think that those people do not travel europe that often. yes, the beds are different, the service both in and out of the hotel is a bit slower but it's europe people, embrace the difference! the staff was fabulous, bent over backwards to please. yes, you have to pay for a sunbed&umbrella on the beach. it's a small enough fee to be comfortable with and really so what? you're on vacation! poolside seats are free. pool area is lovely but i ran for the beach. alberto couldn't bring our drinks and fresh towels fast enough-he was actually running to keep everyone happy! the hotel and grounds are beautiful. it's all about the little finishing touches and they're at the Gran melia. as you stroll down the long promenade and see other hotels, you will be extremely happy that you're staying at the Gran melia. don't hesitate, just book it and have a great time. although the hotel is kid friendly, you don't see too many. (thankfully?) one last thing, granted it's small, but ladies, if you need hair conditioner, bring it! it's the only toiletry not provided. took a side trip to tangier, a long day but a lot of fun!

What looked like a promising venue was not. Horribly small room, not room for two people to stay in comfortably. When you are paying $300 a night, there has to be some amount of luxury. Staff unhelpful. fuerte has rip-off written all over their name.

The hotel is situated right on the Mediterranean with access to a multi-kilometer promenade along the sea, lined with a variety of restaurants and lots of shopping. It is a short walk to Old Town Marbella with lots to explore, shop and eat - one can easily spend a whole day there. Tour buses pick you up at or near the hotel - we took day trips to Granada, Seville, Tangier (Morocco)and Ronda.
For those who wish to do minimal sightseeing, the hotel has plenty of amenities for working out, rest, and relaxation. The breakfast buffet is Great! We found the staff to be very helpful.

good clean hotel only steps from beach, swimming pool area a bit small for the size of the hotel, kitchen equipment a bit antiquated had to ask for a kettle and a new toaster, patio door did not lock. Apart from that good value for money. Staff very helpful and speak english well. would recommend. good location for restaurants and shops.

Great Hotel right on the beach. Very nice grounds and quiet. If you stay here you will need a car or be prepared to take a lot of Taxis. Some shops and restaurants 10 minutes drive away otherwise you have to eat in the hotel restaurant which is very expensive and serves tinned food!
The pool is great once you get used to it being a tad too cold!
If you play golf then this is a fantastic location.

Good buy for the price

The apartment is a bit far from Puerto Banus. The one huge drawback was the fact the hot water ran out after the 1st person showered. The lady at the reception told me the tank was only for 150 gallons, pretty small considering the apartment was for 4-5 people.
We were lucky our apartment was on the ground floor, my brother was on a top floor and there were a lot of steps to carry your luggage, etc..

While the rooms are not fancy high-end, the total package is a fantastic deal.
Description
The Hotel El Rodeo is situated in the centre of Marbella in a very good cosmopolitan area. This comfortable hotel is on the corner of the exotic Parque de la Alameda, (Popular Park) and a short walk to the well known and pretty beach of Venus, and the port and sporting activities of Marbella Marina.

The hotel is near the old town of Marbella, so far from Puerto Barnus if this is what you want. The location is convinient with plenty of bars, restaurants nearby. I have to say, the nicer beaches are little further away towards Puerto Barnus, 20-30 min walking. The beach near the hotel is small and crownded. Our room is facing the street, it's a bit noisy in the morning. Our room had a balcony which is nice. The staff are friendly. There is free wifi in the reception and cafe area.

This is a great Hotel in a great location - its 5 star in terms of facilities, without the over the top welcoming and pampering of other 5 stars which can be a turn off at the beach! We got a deal on the suites with the roof top terraces with Jaccuzi and it was top class. We even ordered a meal to the roof one night and the staff had no problem delivering it up there. Great beach behind hotel with some lovely beach restaurants. Its a short stroll to Puerto Banus along the beach (7-8 mins) for all types of restaurants etc. We even had our breakfast delivered late to the room for a small charge of a couple of euro at 11.30 am. Will definitely stay here again, whether as a couple or with a group of friends

Friendly and accomodating front desk staff, great location off freeway, provided much info and also complimentary upgrade to junior suite.

On first beach line, to 200 meters of the historic centre of Marbella and to 52 km of the international airport of Malaga. Counts with 226 comfortable rooms and suites and with actual design and sea view, equipped with tea and coffee service, free wifi connection in all the hotel.
Counts with lobby bar, piano bar, El Olivo restaurant ( international and Mediterranean kitchen), kids animation, conditioned pool (in winter), hammocks in the pool and beach, beach club grill restaurant specialized in rice and fish of the Mediterranean, meetings rooms and buffet (capacity for 343 guests).

Great hotel, staff, location, and food

I traveled with just me and my sister to Madrid, Marbella, and Lisbon in June of 2011. This hotel was great.
Location
The location is at the start of the strip of beach where everything started to become good so you can just start at the hotel and walk down the beach path and there are great shops. Its also really close to the old town which is nice to walk around also.
Food
Food was amazing. Try the dinner! We went to all other restaurants locally to try the local cuisine. We went our last night to the hotel and it was the best meal of our trip. Huge kudos to the chef - best dinner, good mix of authentic food with some stuff for tourists.
Price
It was not over priced. I would say good value for money.
Spa
Very nice. My sister used it and was very pleased with the service and staff.
Rooms
Good view from our room. Nice acomodations, bed, bathroom etc. Strange vacuum looking hair dryers, but aside from that it was nice.
Staff
Very pleasant. They had activities and didn't annoy you to do them, but were also proactive in engaging you. We went on the tour of the old city from the hotel - very nice and personal.
Negatives
1) You had to pay for the internet- Coming from the US most hotels include this. Always annoying when you have to pay. Luckily it was for the trip and not per day. It was not that expensive though.
2) You had to pay to use a chair on the beach. It was 3.5 Euro per chair. Really annoying since the hotel is on the beach and then they charge you to use their beach chairs! If you lay on your own towel its free or at the pool its free. And by the way - the asian women trying to offer you massages on the beach are annoying. Stay pool side to avoid the hassle.
3) Prices at the poolside restaurant were a little steep for lunch.

This exclusive Aparthotel completely refurbished in 2007, is located approximately 250 meters of the natural dune beaches of the Costa del Sol, in Marbella. The Alanda Club Marbella offers Wi-Fi, a gym, a spa tub and 3 outdoor pools.
The apartments are spacious and bright. They have air conditioning, private balcony, a fully equipped kitchen and a lounge with satellite TV. 1 bedroom apartments can accommodate up to 4 people and 2 bedrooms up to 6 people.
The apartments are within walking distance of shops and bars in the neighborhood of Elvira. The Marbella Golf Club is just 1 km and Marbella is about 12 km. There is free parking on site.
The establishment houses squash courts and a games room with billiards. There is also a children's club.
Guests can enjoy a buffet breakfast in the hotel's restaurant also serves Spanish specialties and a variety of Mediterranean and international dishes. In summer we offer live music on the terrace.
For stays of 7 nights, cleaning of the apartments will be 2 times a week

This hotel is close to the beach and restaurants. We were given another room (better) with no quibble when the air con in our room did not work. There is parking beneath the hotel, ask at reception for the key. 10 euros per night charge for parking.
