NH Las Artes

The hotel is located near the "Ciudad de Artes y Ciencia" & about a 20 minute walk to Valencia's city center area so the location is perfect. The rooms are average size for European standards, but quite small if you are used to U.S. hotels. Most of the rooms just have twins beds so if you want a queen size be sure to reserve it ahead of time. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. The 'Free Wi-Fi' they advertise is not altogether true. It's 'free" for 30 minutes in the lobby area, but if you sit down to use the computer the barista is right there to bring you a beverage (a soda is about $5). The sauna never worked while we were there. The pool was dirty & had missing tiles. The gym equiptment is suffering from a lack of maintenance. Parking runs 18 euros a day.

This is a big hotel and for my purposes, attending a conference at the City of Arts and Sciences, it was perfectly located. It is also on a direct bus route connecting it with the historic centre. The staff were helpful, the rooms spotless and comfortable. The toiletries provided were in lovely citrus varieties, very nice. However, the coldest setting on the AC only produced a just about acceptable temperature, I could have done with it a few degrees cooler. I did not eat at the hotel as the breakfast (not included in my package) was an amazing 11 Euros if booked in advance, 16 Euros otherwise. No matter, a few minutes walk away was a cafe that opened at 8 and did a wonderful breakfast (freshly squeezed orange juice, cafe con leche and a delicious pastry (choice of several) for 3.30 Euros! Similarly there are several restaurants very close, highly recommended is the one across the street although I did not make a note of the name. The hotel has a gym and a swimming pool, but the latter is a bit of an exaggeration. It would be impossible to actually swim in this pool, it is that small. A cooling dip maybe, but not serious exercise. That was a bit of a disappointment, it has to be said. There is free wireless only in the lobby, but you can pay for it in the rooms if you really need to. Technically you get only 30 minutes free, but the reception staff are quite happy to give out another voucher when the 30 minutes elapses.

En esta ocasión solo estuve una noche, pero ya habia estado con anterioridad. Es un Hotel muy bien situado, junto a la Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias. Habitaciones funcionales, no muy grandes, pero cómodas y buen desayuno. Buena relación calidad precio.

Points négatifs: un petit déjeuner de 15 euro par personne (!!), un parking payant de 19 euros par jour (il semble que cela soit la norme des bons hotels locaux), internet pour 10 euros par 24h; Points positifs: le service est impeccable, l'hotel est très bien situé (juste à coté de la cité des arts et d'un centre commercial qui permet de manger bon marché), les transports en commun (et touristiques) sont à coté (vers plage - 20 minutes - et centre ville (15 minutes), le taxi est pas cher (5 euro pour se rendre au centre).
