The BEST WESTERN Hotel Merian am Rhein is located downtown by the riverside in quiet surroundings. Most rooms are offering spectacular views, overlooking the river and the old part of the town. The restaurant is known as one of the best fish restaurants in town. Start your day with a complimentary buffet breakfast. Take advantage of our lounge, complimentary newspaper and concierge. End of a cruise

My husband and I stayed in Basel for 1 night after getting off a river cruise. I chose this hotel online and it was perfect. Located by the Rhine, next to the streetcar line and easily accessible to the city center. We walked and walked and also took the streetcar to a museum. The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant was good and the food delicious. We enjoyed our short stay in Basel.

Hotel Meriam am Rhein, Basel

Excellent hotel in a perfect location on the banks of the Rhine, immediately opposite to old part of the city. Wonderful views over the river, and convenient tram line immediately outside, giving access to all parts of Basel via the free travel ticket provided. A superior restaurant , specialising in fish dishes. I would say that this hotel provides a perfect centre for the leisure traveller, and a practical base for business travellers, being within easy reach of the main industrial areas.

Location was really good, but

Location was really good, but the accomodation was basic - not unsimilar to student accomadation in the UK. The bed was small even though we booked a double, but on having asked why the recetionist said on these 'categories' of rooms were alllocated if you booked through hotelclub - so basically you pay a price similar to the going rate but you get second class accomodation.

Rooms a little smaller than might

Rooms a little smaller than might be expected. (We had a river view double which had a nice view over to the old town) Excellent position for sight seeing etc.

Unbelievably great location!!

Room overlooked the Rhine river-Fantastic view. Close to everything. Included breakfast buffet really good. Staff was super friendly & helpful. Can't wait to go back and spend a lot more time there.

The included bus/tram service from airport to hotel and everywhere in town you wanted to go. Can't say enough about how easy it was to get around.

Perfect location

The Best Western Merian Am Rhein was a good value for Basel. Located just across the Rhine from old Basel and next to a bridge and tram service, the hotel allowed us to enjoy the views yet be anywhere in Basel quickly. While the rooms are not spacious by USA standards, the room was serviceable and functional. But if you are spending so much time in the room that it bothers you, then you are missing out on Basel.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

The old market center of Basel is a short 5-10 minute walk from the hotel. Basel is such a lovely city.
